As far as the time the contest should run in the US, please make it 12:01 am September 1 to 12:01 am October 1 Hawaiian Time, which is 5:01 am Sept 1 to 5:01 am October 1 New York Time. (The :01 is there because 12:00 is considered to be ambiguous for the date in the US - all our laws take effect at 12:01!)
There is a special page for the US NRHP at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_National_Register_of_Hist... and I assume other projects have something similar.
I'd like to be able to knock an image off this page and have it not come back - is that possible? The reason is that there are multiple pix of some sites and some I just don't want to use.

Hi Peter, I have updated the start and end times for the US, thanks for the information.
I am not sure how the unused images pages work, so I'll leave it for somebody else (Maarten?) to answer.
Thanks, Tomasz

12:01 am. Hawaian time does not seem to be the same as 05:01 am New York Time:
TZ=UTC date --date='TZ="Pacific/Honolulu" 12:01 am September 1' Sat Sep 1 10:01:00 UTC 2012
TZ=UTC date --date='TZ="America/New_York" 05:01 am September 1' Sat Sep 1 09:01:00 UTC 2012
Hawaii don't follow daylight saving time, like New York, thus the difference is 6 hours in winter and 5 in summer. Just to be sure: *Starting time at UTC-10: 12:01 am September 1 in Hawaii = 6:01 am in NYC = 2012-09-01T10:00 UTC *Closing time at UTC-10: 12:01 am October 1 in Hawaii = 6:01 am in NYC = 2012-10-01T10:00 UTC Right?

September is still in DST https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time_in_the_United_States#2007...
It will be the opposite way: 5 hours in winter (UTC-10 vs UTC-5) and 6 hours in summer (UTC-10 vs UTC-4)
Hi all, Did this get resolved? The time difference is 6 hours between Hawaii and Eastern time zones.
Tomasz, can you confirm?
thanks! Matthew

Hi,
Yes, it is all resolved. Please note that the opening is not so critical as the closing. For the opening being a few hours off is fine - because there will be very few people paying attention yet and having photos ready to upload. At the closing however, the number of uploads per minute can be huge.

Yes, see https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Monuments_database/Unused_images/... You need to have a Commons tracker template and tracker category. Any countries missing?

If you add a photo to the lists all suggestions with the same id will disappear from the page. A bad photo is better than no photo at all.....
