~6k picture less on the last day but ~6k pictures more in the next-to-last-day. But there are also ~7k pictures more on the first day and ~4k less on Sept, 23rd.

Platonides is able to provide more accurate results via the database, by the way. Yesterday at European midnight we were a hundred or so above 2012, which however likely meant a bit less than 2012 considering deletions and mistakes; Americas should have brought us a bit over that. Sadly however, the number of uploaders has decreased (11904 uploaders and 11914 authors, as of 0.50 CEST).

Don't forget that Israel has some days left in the competition.

Hi all,
it all depends on the definition :) I'd like to keep using the Guinness World Record definition (while harsh, it is the clearest) - which put the 2012 results at some 3,53,000. We probably broke that. However, we will not be certain until the nominees for the international jury came in - and we know for sure all countries that have images submitted actually 'participate' according to their definition.
So... we'll know more on November 1! But so far, it looks hopeful :)

The numbers right now are: mysql> select count(*) from wlm2013 where wlm_status = 'Participating'; +----------+ | count(*) | +----------+ | 369335 | +----------+
There will be fluctuactions due to Israel, some bot migrations and people removing files from participating.
Kaew asked:
- fraction of ineligible/delete submission (after juries and
volunteers have gone through them)
972 files deleted. 3434 files removed from the competition (ie. no {{Wiki Loves Monumentes 2013}} in the description page).
Those 4400 cases were at some point in the 2013 WLM category. There might be some more, undetected by the bot but they should be very few, the bot was polling very frequently.

It is just because the most mass uploaders are the same as in 2012 - and they learnt that it is better to upload picture a day in advance, so they finished a day eariler :-) (Just my gues)
But there are also ~7k pictures more on the first day and ~4k less on Sept, 23rd.
First day - It was just due to to super-active single German uploader ;-)

(also last year the last day was on Sunday, this year on Monday so the day-before-the-last was Sunday when I think more people have time to upload photos)

Thanks for the nice tools and incredible statistics.
However, for future planing purpose, can we have... * visits to competition site statistics -> This helps we understand conversion rate (visit->submission) * HTTP referrer information -> This helps we know what medium/site drives people to the competition. * fraction of up-loaders who are existing Wikimedians & contributions of new Wikimedians in the next few month. * fraction of ineligible/delete submission (after juries and volunteers have gone through them) * correlation of WLM's output/ranking and Wikipedia, sister projects, chapter's -> This help us understand whether, in a country, WLM outperforms or underperforms its current potential or just doing on average.
I'm new here. Let me know if these information is (or will be) available. Or if you have raw data, I am happy to analyse them and produce a report on the above points.

The "potential" may be quite hard to estimate. Look at the case of USA, or India (for opposite reasons).
