Hi everyone,
I wondered what the best place was to organize a "Wiki Takes ..." event so I did a query :-) Picked out some places :
At the top is: * Edinburgh 4829
Than it's all Flanders: * Gent/Gand : 4829 * Antwerpen/Anver : 4471 * Brugge/Buges : 4420 (and a lot more cities in Flanders, I'll skip the rest) Than major European cities start showing up * Bukarest : 2251 * Bratislava : 2168 * Glasgow : 1846 (and some more from Scotland, I'll skip the rest) * Tallinn : 1512 * Copenhagen : 1240 * Kraków : 1171 * Brakel: 780 (that's Dutch, but I had to look it up on the map) * Oslo : 424 * Gotland : 309 * St. Louis, Missouri : 297
The full list is at http://toolserver.org/~multichill/temp/queries/erfgoed/where_wiki_takes.txt (and the query at http://toolserver.org/~multichill/temp/queries/erfgoed/where_wiki_takes.sql )
This might server as some inspiration to organize your local Wiki Takes! How to organize such an event is documented at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments/Organizing_a... .

Hello Multichill, Brakel must be a mistake in that list, the dutch Brakel only has 15 monuments, the Belgium Brakel has ca. 150. And there's also a German Brakel. But there are some quite large numbers in this list. In the past most wiki takes went up to ca. 700 pictures on one day? Can records be broken by taking 2000 pictures on a day? Mvg, Bas

I don't know the table has been done, but there are some Iberian cities with more than 200 monuments. Cartagena more than 200 [9], Madrid the same or Bilbao more than 300, etc. Yes, Bilbao or Cartagena have not yet all monuments listed on Wikipedia.

Maarten list does indeed only take into account entries with no registered photo, but there's little change in the order:

Seems we miss "some" monuments in our lists... +-------------------------+---------------------+ | Barcelona | 915 | | Sant Feliu de Llobregat | 174 | | Madrid | 156 | | Girona | 23 | | Tortosa | 21 | | Tarragona | 17 | | Vic | 9 | | Olot | 7 | | Terrassa | 5 | | Sabadell | 4 | | Figueres | 4 | | Reus | 4 | +-------------------------+---------------------+
We have no entries for Cartagena, Bilbao or Reus :(
Oh, and those (except Madrid) were listed as being in the "es-ct country" instead of es, so my previous mail missed all Catalonian and Valèncian monuments. Can we change them in monuments_all to be filled as 'es'? I think we should do the same thing for other "sub-countries", too (Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Italy).

Don't know. Depends on how the registers are organized. How are they organized?
I think we should do the same thing for other "sub-countries", too (Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Italy).
Please don't. You would break the primary key of the database and create a royal mess. In Belgium we have three registers, Germany dozens, Denmark two and I don't know about Italy. Reminds me that we still have to untangle the two registers of Sweden. Any locals on this list to help out with that?

The Statistics page on commons seems to not get all monuments? Does this mean the database doesn't get all monuments as well? http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Monuments_database/Statistics it sais 26000 monuments for nl on nl, which is clearly wrong (it should be around 62.000) also it sais 2 for be-wal on nl, which should be above 4000 (it has the same source as on fr, so number should be around the same)

The table has exactly 2 monuments:
62015 | CLT-0001-01 - Site gevormd door vijf lindebomen rond de kleine kapel van Saint-Anne: gebied van bijzondere 62015 | CLT-0003-01 - Een rode beuk en de directe omgeving in het park naast het gemeentehuis
It may be a problem with handling the double primary key. Marteen, can you look at it?

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Monuments_database/Statistics it sais 26000 monuments for nl on nl, which is clearly wrong (it should be around 62.000) also it sais 2 for be-wal on nl, which should be above 4000 (it has the same source as on fr, so number should be around the same)
The table has exactly 2 monuments:
62015 | CLT-0001-01 - Site gevormd door vijf lindebomen rond de kleine kapel van Saint-Anne: gebied van bijzondere 62015 | CLT-0003-01 - Een rode beuk en de directe omgeving in het park naast het gemeentehuis
It may be a problem with handling the double primary key. Marteen, can you look at it?
I think this is a combination of factors having to do with optimization (not having to read all pages on each update and only adding changed entries to the database). That probably caused some things to drop out. I now reverted to daily full updates until I have the time to look deeper into this. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Monuments_database/Statistics totals look ok now.
