Dear all,
probably you know that the winners for international contest receive a prize as per this grant https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:PEG/Wiki_Loves_Monuments_internationa....
Like Santa Claus, I have in charge the distribution of the prizes.
This how the prizes will be distributed:
From 1st to 3rd place: 1'000USD for each winner
From 4th to 8th place: 400 USD for each winner
Below there is the process, sorry if it's formal but it's connected with a grant:
Step 1: I am contacting the local organizers to be in touch with the winners and to inform the winners about their position and the prize, this helps to avoid an trustfulness communication between me and the winners
Step 2: The winner has to write me an email, putting in copy a local organizer, where they accept the prize and give me the real name, an email and possibly the address (this action is important to define clearly the identity of the winner, the local organizer helps to agree about the identity of the winner)
Step 3: In the email they must indicate which kind of prize they would with the data to proceed to transfer the prize. It means a bank account to transfer or to indicate which kind of voucher they would (giving all data helpful to transfer the voucher) (deadline 15 December)
Step 4: The fiscal sponsor, will proceed to transfer the amount or to buy the voucher after my indication (deadline 31 December)
Unfortunately the prizes must be transferred before the end of December because the grant must close the 3rd January.
Winners who doesn't communicate these data before the 15 December are considered automatically like withdrawing the prize and we proceed to distribute them to the 9th and 10th place.
For this reason I would ask to contact me as soon as possible the following local organizers:
WLM Germany (I have sent an email to Nicole Ebber, but contact me considering that there are three prizes to distribute) WLM France WLM Russia WLM Iran (they have a reserve)
I am already in contact with these organizers:
WLM Thailand (I am already in contact with Taweetham) WLM Italy (in contact with Cristian Cenci) WLM Austria (in contact with Raimund Liebert)
Kind regards

Yes, using Twitter as the only means for publishing a contest result is really unprofessional :-(

We are not professionals here, but a bunch of volunteers in an open community. This is why I was bothered having communications first and foremost inside a walled garden (twitter) instead of our open community (Commons).
We're a bunch of volunteers asking for and receiving a grant for running a professional contest. Although tweeting the full list of winner is definitely cool, it's not professional at all to have to refer to a tweet to state that I scored 20th, for instance.

To summarize, it's pretty clear: why the full list of 25 winners is not published in any referenceable way?

Hi,
It's not published in a perfect way because the jury report is still under production. I didn't want to wait for that to be finalized before announcing the winners - I had the feeling that people wanted to hear that sooner. The report is coming up, but there are also real life priorities that take precedence.
Also, if anyone wants to help the international team with communications (blogging, facebooking, twittering, but also communications with the national teams): this is typically a thing nobody likes to do very much, because you usually get only criticism. So I'm confident that volunteers would be welcome!
Best, Lodewijk

Uh ?!? Are you really responding to a e-mail complaigning it has been published in *too many* places by complaining it has been published in only *one* place ? I don't get that logic...
The communication maybe could have been better (like everything in the world) but it seems pretty good to me.

"Publishing" and Twitter does not fit well. What I'm plainly critizising is the fact that the complete list of 25 winners is not published anywhere. Am I wrong?

Last time I checked, all the lists were consistent with each other (except a typo/duplicate at https://twitter.com/wikimonuments/status/673935010156511233 ).
The expected number of international winners doesn't seem to be available on Commons nor wikilovesmonuments.org, but https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:PEG/Wiki_Loves_Monuments_internationa... confirms there are 10 winners. Of course the winners are the first images in the rank. :)
