Instagram and Creative Commons

Dear all, a doubt: is Instagram compatible with Creative Commons? Can I upload *my* Instagram pics on Commons (so could it be used for WLM)? Please consider that I'm not suggesting Instagram pics are good for WLM (they are filtered and all, probably not very suitable for illustrating monuments on Wikipedia) but is a legal matter. Aubrey

WLM Participants' Survey: What can we learn from it?

Dear all, If there is sufficient interest from the community, I will propose a workshop on the WLM participants' survey and the insights we can gather from it. I think it is important that as many people involved in the organization of WLM 2012 and WLM 2013 as possible take part in the workshop, so we can get some collective sense making going. So please sign up on the proposal page if you are interested: https://wikimania2014.wikimedia.org/wiki/Submissions/What_can_we_learn_from… It would certainly also be possible to present the results from the organizers' survey during the same workshop (possibly asking for a bit more time). Please let me know if that would be an option. Concerning the participants' survey in 2014, we discussed with John Andersson about having one survey for all photo contests during this year. Please let me know what you think. - Whether a participants' survey will be carried out this year at all, will probably also depend on the interest among WLM organizers. It's a lot of work; so I would suggest doing it only if there is a concrete demand for it. Any feedback is appreciated. WLM statistics tool

Hello; The tool for statistics is ready http://tools.wmflabs.org/wlm-stats/ I see some files from Ireland and Mexico. Do these countries start before September 1st? By the way, check that your country appear in the tables, when the first files are uploaded. CSV and JSON files with metadata are generated (links at the bottom), for those who want to play with data and make their own statistics. Anyway if you find any graph of interest to be added to the page, you can do a pull request in GitHub https://github.com/emijrp/wlm-stats or comment in this thread. I have little time, mostly to make stable what worked in previous editions. Regards

Hello all, as the competition is ready to start (or has already started for some countries I guess), is there any plan to update http://www.wikilovesmonuments.org/ to reflect that there is no international competition this year and this website is only a placeholder to redirect to national competitions ? Who has the keys to do this update ? @symac - french team

Hello all, At the end of today Wiki Loves Monuments starts in most countries. I have already noticed that not all countries in the list have done a part of all their preparations. List: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2014/Partic… Today I will start with determining if countries are ready. If a country is not ready, I try to contact the local organizers and then they have the possibility to fix the raised issue(s). As long as a country is not ready, no CentralNotice will be shown locally. Some criteria: * A landing page must be added here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2014/Centra… * Landing page must show sign of organising contest in 2014, including how to participate, rules, etc. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2014/Centra… * A translation of the CentralNotice text must have been provided: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2014/Centra… The CentralNotice will be enabled manually within the hour after the start of the contest. If this does not happen, check the page of participating countries if your country is listed there: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2014/Partic… . If there: fix the issue(s) and when ready: let me know! If the CentralNotice does not show within the hour after the contest starts, and is not listed in the not ready list, let me know! Central notifications

I just wanted to double check that someone was on top of the central notification/banner for the start of the competition? If so which wikis is it planned for? Also when I'm checking is there a planned central notification message going out to participants at the end of the competition (via their commons talk pages). Is there also something similar planned for participants of last year prior to the start? I'm mainly checking to make sure such messages don't clash with ones we might otherwise set up locally. Hi Lodejiwik. Romaine sent an email to mailing list . we're looking for someone who can write a blog post on WLM official blog about WLM 2014.. since you're the one who always used to wrote for blog in the past, so i thought I should ping you .. i don't think the post should be very long or detailed enough. a brief one would do mentioning which countries are doing WLM this year.. I think all the credit should go to Romaine since even though we dont have any international WLM team this year but Romaine did a great job to make sure WLM 2014 run fine so I think we should mention him in the post.. other can make suggestions for the post but you now what else the post should cover.
