Hi all,
Just to remind that the Wiki Loves meetup (Wiki Loves Earth, Wiki Loves Monuments and probably other ideas) is today starting 7pm.
Place: Barbican, Lakeside Terrace (terrace with fountains at the ground floor, this one https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fountain_at_the_Barbican_Centre_1.j… ). Then we'll see if we will want to stay there, find a room or find a pub.
See you there! Mykola (NickK)
Hi everyone,
I'm on the Multimedia team at the WMF, and we were wondering if there are
specific bugfixes or critical features that would be needed in preparation
for WLM.
Something I know of is the cached template issue in UploadWizard campaign
banners: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64685 which I would
like to get fixed before WLM. If there's anything else that's critical,
please let us know, it will help us prioritize our workload.
Sorry for crosposting, forgot to add WLM :) This is just to confirm the time: Saturday 19:00, and we'll see what rooms are available.

I've suggested Saturday at 19:00 (7:00pm), this way those who have something at 20:00 will be able to make some constructive contributions before leaving the meetup :) As far as I can see there is almost nothing on Saturday between 7 and 8 pm, so I hope this will work for everyone.
Best regards, Mykola aka NickK

OK, i'm going to assume Saturday evening now, and if we don't get a room we just hijack something.

Apparently in order to hijack a meeting room one has to write an email to Ed Saperia, the conference director. I have emailed him, let's see what he will suggest. As far as I can see Saturday evening should be fine for most people, I will try to find something on this day.

Hi all,
I have found out that this year there will be no sessions dedicated to Wiki Loves Monuments or Wiki Loves Earth photo contests in the Wikimania conference programme. Ed Saperia (the conference director) suggested organising a meetup rather then a conference session, so I created https://wikimania2014.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wiki_Loves_meetup
So far I think it would be interesting to discuss the following: * Wiki Loves Earth 2014: the first international edition - thoughts, impressions, ideas, lessons for future.... * Future of Wiki Loves contests - do we want to have both WLE and WLM every year, alternate WLM and WLE, organise some new contest, stop international competitions or do something else? * probably Wiki Loves Monuments 2014, the first edition without dedicated international team (provided there will be enough people interested in it).
If you have other topics to discuss, please add your suggestions!
Please add your name here if you are interested in attending. The more we are, the more interesting discussion we will have and the better spot in the programme we will get :)
P.S. Sorry for those who won't be at Wikimania, but I can't really find this out...
Best regards and see you in London!

vHi all,
[TL;DR]
we are changing this list [wikilovemonuments-l] policy from moderation
to rejection for messages from non-members of the list.
[/TL;DR]
This list, which is moderated by Lodewijk and myself, gets every day a
huge amount of spam and undesired messages, circa 20 messages per
hour. We have tried in the last months to implement some filters to
solve the problem with poor results.
Since it is impossible for us to keep moderating this huge quantity of
messages we have decided to change the policy of the list so that
messages sent by non members will be automatically rejected. At the
moment the messages are accumulated in the moderation queue.
Members of this list (whose subscription and archives are - and will
remain - open) should not experience any difference. Non-members of
the list sending messages here will need to sign up to the list before
being able to post.
Cheers,
Cristian
