Dear Wikimedia & Education community,
The deadline for submissions to Wikimania is fast approaching. This year there is a space dedicated specifically to education, and we need your submissions to make it engaging and relevant.
Submit your ideas by *June 1st *here: https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2019:Education https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2019:Education?fbclid=IwAR1TaJdz5WH6QWa_PjtxekzCWjg13Psuzn0MzcWxiYoscYRrs2feTK6h2NA
This year, Wikimania is organized around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), these are goals agreed on by UN member states, that we should achieve by 2030. SDG4 aims to ensure that all people have access to quality education and lifelong learning. We believe that the Wikimedia projects can make a big difference by providing relevant educational resources, especially in mother languages, and through empowering learners as content creators and critical consumers of information.
We know you have great ideas for workshops, lightening talks, presentations, and more for this space. Don't forget to submit your proposal before June 1st!
Dear all,
Please note that the deadline has been extended to June 9th.
I join Nichole in encouraging all of you to submit sessions for the Education Space, so that our space will truly represent the work being done all over the world.
Best, Shani.

And one last clarification -- While we do have a theme of UNESCO's SDGs, and it would be good if submissions relate to it, we also realize that not all stories are able to tie with the SDGs. So please submit your stories, learnings and panels anyway. :) We are now thinking of opening the space with a discussion on Education and the SDGs, so if we then have sessions that do not touch the SDGs, but only EDUWiki, that would be fine as well.
Shani.

Dear all,
A few announcements regarding Wikimania:
*1 - Submission Deadline for the Education Space: * This is a final reminder that the submission deadline for the Education Space in Wikimania is *June 9th*, so only *3 more days to submit* your stories, initiatives and projects and share them with the global movement.
*2 - Invitation to the Content Committee: * While the Wikipedia & Education User Group is leading this space and curating it, we would like to make sure that the selection process for this space is done collaboratively, not only by us but by the wider EDUWiki Community. We would like to have a committee of up to 5 to help us with the selection process, so the committee will include people from the User Group, representatives from the WMF education team and we have 3 spots for people from the wider EDUWiki community . If you are interested in being part of the committee, please write us to: eduwikiug@gmail.com. Please *shortly* highlight any *international experience* you might have that puts you in a good position to be in the selection committee. The content committee will work throughout June to finalize the program for our Space.
Best, Shani.
