Hello, I would like all of you to try an interactive online Wikipedia course which was developed by user:Dcoetzee (I think he is not in this maillist, and if he is, I hope he does not mind). It is called Wikipedia Adventure and it could (and IMHO should) be an alternative to the Online Training resource. beta version available here: http://wikipediaadventure.moonflare.com/ what do you think? How does it differ from "The Wikipedia Adventure"? https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IEG/The_Wikipedia_Adventure

Oh yes! I love it! It's great! How can I get it in Swedish? What do I need to do?? This is simply great !

That website was a prototype. The leader of that project, User:Ocaasi, is now working on a usable on-wiki version of it as his Individual Engagement Grant project: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:The_Wikipedia_Adventure
The preliminary plan at this point is to try to build it on-wiki using the Guided Tours functionality that the E3 team is developing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Guided_tours
If that is successful, it should be relatively easy to repackage the whole project as a MediaWiki extension that could be translated and deployed in a more-or-less easy way.
Cheers, Sage

On that note, I'm also hoping to add some interactive (although not game-like) tutorial elements to the trainings using the same technology. I started coding up a basic interactive sandbox walkthrough, but it's been on hold for the time being, while I've been working on making the trainings more orderly and easier to modify (so that it will be easier to translate them and localize them). Depending on how quickly Ocaasi gets things up and running, I'll probably try to adapt what he's doing for the trainings.
