Dear Wikimedia & Education community,
I hope this email finds you safe and healthy. We wanted to update you on where we are with the COVID-19 action plan that we shared with you before, how you can share your own responses with us so that we can amplify your work, and how you can help support our efforts.
This week, the Wikimedia Foundation joined UNESCO's Global Education Coalition for COVID-19 https://en.unesco.org/covid19/globaleducationcoalition. If you have time, view Katherine Maher's video introducing our membership and give it a like or a share: https://youtu.be/4RL0bQw4n0s
We also initiated a soft launch of the #EduWiki challenge on Facebook and Twitter, and starting next week, we're asking you to support this initiative. What can you do? Every Friday we're going to update this communications tool-kit: https://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/Education/COVID-19_response/Comms_toolki...
In the tool-kit you will find: 1) All the #EduWiki challenges for the week and corresponding graphics 2) Our M-F post schedule 3) Other messages about Wikimedia, Education & COVID-19
You can: 1) *Translate, localize, and share any and all of the #EduWiki challenges in your social media accounts and other relevant channels.* We want to reach teachers, parents and students who are looking for fun and engaging educational activities they can do at home. The communications tool-kit will be updated every week. The graphics will be added to Commons, and you can edit the svg files using any image editing software that you like. 2) *Share your ideas for new #EduWiki challenges, or lesson plans that use the Wikimedia projects with us so that we can add them to our post schedule. *For now you can send them to education@wikimedia.org with the subject line "Lesson plan ideas." We're putting together a form that will make it easier, and we'll share it with you next week. 3) *Share the other activities your community is doing to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 school closures. *You can use this form to share your activities: https://forms.gle/g2mqLwpPr9gjvwgA7 and we will include them on ur dedicated page for COVID-19 on Outreach Wiki: https://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/Education/COVID-19_response
Thank you for all that you do! We're so proud to be a part of this community. Reach out if you have any questions.
wishing you all the best in this crazy time,
The Education Team
