Thanks, Nahid! We celebrated Wikidata's 8th birthday in 2020. This year we are bringing the EduWiki Week, a whole week to celebrate our work. You can have more information here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Education/EduWiki_Week_2022
We are so excited! Looking forward to seeing active participation from the education community. Let's use the opportunity to learn, share, and connect. \o/

Dear Wikimedians,
I hope you are having a good start of the year. I’m writing on behalf of the organizing team to announce and invite you all to the first EduWiki Week.
The idea of EduWiki Week comes from Wikidata Education Week <
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Eighth_Birthday/Wikidata_Education_We...
,
a virtual celebration event the Education team at Wikimedia Foundation
had
organized during the 8th birthday of Wikidata.
EduWiki Week is planned as a virtual festival and will be celebrated from 21st February 2022 to 25th February 2022. This will be a hybrid event
with
asynchronous activities, live interviews, and a final synchronous
session.
This is our first time organizing a virtual event of this format! The celebration has three main objectives: to connect our volunteers across
the
globe with each other and with leaders in the education sector; to foster collaboration within our movement; and to promote the work done in education in our movement.
Everyone is invited to participate! How can you do it?
Asynchronous Celebrations
Local events organized by affiliates and volunteers for their community members, teachers, and other stakeholders in the education sector. You
can
organize interviews, edit-a-thons, virtual carnivals focused on the theme of education.
-> To participate, add your event/campaign to this page <
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Education/EduWiki_Week_2022/Asynchronous_Cel...
here with a description of the event. Use the hashtag #EduWikiWeek2022 on social media posts.
Live Interviews
5 live interviews focused on different topics related to global education
-> To participate, Watch the session on our Facebook page YouTube
channel.
The schedule of the interviews will be available soon.
Community Showcase and Connection
A 4 hours long synchronous event to be held on 23rd February, 2022. This includes 9 lightning talks for 20 minutes each and an hour-long mingling session for connections, networking, and sending wikiloves. (Mingling session will not be broadcasted)
-> To present a lightning talk, submit your proposals before the 30th January on Meta-Wiki <
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Education/EduWiki_Week_2022#Community_Showca...
.
It can be a live or pre-recorded presentation. To attend this event, registration will be open from 5th February until 18th February.
You can watch it Live on Facebook and YouTube. We’ll make the recordings available on Meta-Wiki a few weeks after the event as well. While waiting for the EduWiki Week, enjoy the interviews from Wikidata Education Week <
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Eighth_Birthday/Wikidata_Education_We...
.
More information coming soon, Stay tuned.
We hope everyone is as enthusiastic about this event as we are!
