Dear all,
I am Shiju Alex and I am a Malayalam Wikisource volunteer - http://ml.wikisource.org For those who do not know, Malayalamhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malayalamis spoken in the state of Kerala in South India.
We have a special case regarding a *notable Malayalam book* in Malayalam Wikisource http://ml.wikisource.org. A notable writer of Malayalam ( http://issuu.com/jdevika) is ready to release some of her notable works under free license http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/(Both text and images)
Few Malayalam wikians *want to add this book to Malayalam wikisource*. But few others argue that even though book is notable since it is a recent book it can not be in Wikisource. They argue that only source texts which are in public domain need to in wikisource.
I am unable to find any similar case in *English wikisource*. Could some one please guide us regarding this? My primary question is, If a *notable* book of a language is available in a wikisource compatibility license can that be added to Wikisource?
If this is done is any other language, can some one please share the links.

None of his novels are on there as they are CC with NonCommercial clauses, but one talk is even though it probably hasn't been published in any formal sense.

In our case the license is http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ which is compatible with wikisource license.
The question raised by some wikians are, even though license is compatible, whether we are violating any non-license related policy of wikisource by accepting this source text.

Please don't print this e-mail out unless you want a hard copy of it. If you do, go ahead. I won't stop you. Nor will I waste your ink/toner with 300+ lines of completely pointless and legally unenforceable cargo cult blather about corporate confidentiality.

http://wikisource.org/wiki/Wikisource:Subdomain_coordination lacks info about this (which should be fixed), but policies vary among Wikisources. For instance, it.source avoids discussions about notability by allowing only works (and editions) already published by a "traditional publisher" elsewhere; en.source is less restrictive.

In it.source, two are the main conditions: * the books must have been published * the license must be PD or CC-BY-SA/GFDL
Then is OK. I think you can have it on ml.source :-) Goo job!

At German WS we do not accept modern literature (with the exception of legal texts in the PD) but each WS is free to go it's own way if - the license is appropriate for WMF - no vanity publishing is supported (educational WMF principle, scope of WS vs. WP, Wikibooks)

Thank you all for sharing the policies from various Wikisource communities. We want to formulate a policy regarding this that is inline with the basic policies of Wikisource. All the replies that we received will help us during our policy discussion.
Thanks once again Shiju Alex
