Dear all,
user Alex Brollo has developed a very interesting tool which I think many
of you will find very useful.
(afaiu he developed this from a previous tool, but he can explain it better)
To test it, go on your oldwikisource account,
and in User:YOU/vector.js copy this:
importScript("User:Alex_brollo/cornersDependencies.js");
importScript("User:Alex brollo/corners.js");
importStylesheet("User:Alex brollo/common.css");
The tool will appear under Tools, and it's called "Ritaglio immagini" (crop
images).
It opens a window which allows you to select and crop an image directy on
the page.
It is extremely useful to use illustration directly on the page.
It is usable both in View and Edit mode.
In the Italian Wikisource we have made it a Gadget and button, so it's
active for everyone.

TL;DR: check on https://etherpad.wikimedia.org/p/BugTriage-Collection if
you see an old friend
Hello book lovers, I propose to hold a bug triage for old Collection
bugs. It's sad, but all the bugs of 4 years ago are still current;
what's worse, they're not even tracked because the bug tracker was deleted.
So, let's test them together again, everyone on their own wiki:
https://etherpad.wikimedia.org/p/BugTriage-Collection
If you want to help, add your name and your proposal of a date when to
meet on IRC.
See https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Bug_management/Triage for what a
triage is. You don't need to come on IRC, just writing on etherpad or
bugzilla something you know about one of those bugs is very valuable.
Note: this is only about the Collection extension itself. The backend
software to produce the actual PDF files (mwlib) is being superseded.
There are some 160 more bugs to retest for it, but we need a testing
area; I've asked about it at
<https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Thread:Talk:PDF_rendering/Test_instance_and_…>

Hi,
I've made an IEG Grant proposal, to develop few tools for Armenian
Wikisource, which can be localized, adjusted for different languages and
used globally in the future.
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IEG/Tools_for_Armenian_Wikisource_an…
I would appreciate your feedback, ideas and thought, on this, a lot.
Do you find those tool useful for your Wikisource projects? May be you have
small feature requests, which you think will make those tools more
appealing.
Also if there's anyone willing to join the project, or to modify tools for
their language version in future, I'd be happy to hear that.
Thanks beforehand,
Aleksey, [[User:Xelgen]]
Hi,
this year the Wikimania will be in* London* and it will be a great
opportunity to have a *Wikisource community meet-up* there. I requested a
room for* Aug 9th* (Saturday), who would be coming?
During the wmcon I learnt that it is possible to apply for funds to the GAC
to bring selected members from strategically-targeted language communities
(Diversity), or someone who wants to learn about how to revitalize their
wikisource (Community building) or learn how to start projects (Outreach).
It could also be someone from an external organization we want to partner
with. As always there must be a very strong motivation to do things and it
has to yield results, since travels are expensive. Are there suggestions
about who should we try to bring?
Additionally this year there are several Wikisource-related submissions, so
we could also "package" the ones that get accepted into a brouchure to
promote Wikisource and the related talks. Some that have been identified:
*DIY-Scanner<https://wikimania2014.wikimedia.org/wiki/Submissions/Open_hardware_and_Open…>:
to learn how it was done and evaluate if we can replicate the project
internationally
*Wikisource technical
infrastructure<https://wikimania2014.wikimedia.org/wiki/Submissions/Wikisource_technical_i…>:
to see what has been done and the discussion about the technical
developments
*Wikisource panel<https://wikimania2014.wikimedia.org/wiki/Submissions/Panel:_Wikisource,_fro…>:
general discussion, workflow and metadata handling
*Gujarati Wikisource<https://wikimania2014.wikimedia.org/wiki/Submissions/Gujarati_Wikisource>:
to learn about how a small community overcame the initial challenges
*Malayalam Digitization
Contest<https://wikimania2014.wikimedia.org/wiki/Submissions/Malayalam_Wikisource_D…>:
the Wikisource contest<https://blog.wikimedia.org/2013/11/21/wikisource-proofreading-contest/>is
becoming global, good time to discuss lessons learnt and how to make
it
grow further.
Feel free to vote them if you find them interesting!
Cheers,
Micru
Thanks for these amazing logos. I've also a small preference for Isarra one that is a little less sad and represents well what Wikisource community is: a part of the Wikimedia community focused on books.

Dear all,
I am again from Bengali Wikisource for help. Can it be possible to Multiple
page move with prefix book title? Some user create one Poetry Book
"Gitanjali" by Rabindranath Tagore, with all peotry with first stanza line
( 170 poetry) as a title (NS0). You can see English version [1]. I want to
move all respective first stanza line poetry to respectively
Gitanjali/1, Gitanjali/2,Gitanjali/3 .....
Not only this Poetry Book, Maximum all Poetry Book was created like this
way wrongly in our Wikisource.
Please give some advice/help to do this easily, either bot, semi-bot (AWB).

Jayanta Nath

Hi Everyone,
I am from Bengali Wikisource, we need all template from Wikisource from
https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Category:Formatting_templates.
Are there any inter-wiki importer to do this???
I can do this by one by one. We have no XML import rights.

Hi all,
I was invited to participate on the Wikimedia Conference 2014 [1] on behalf
of the Wikisource Community User Group. I was in Hamburg the week before,
so I just booked a bus ticket and went to Berlin this past weekend.
The WMCON is primarily oriented towards chapters, but there were also user
group representatives, and members of the FDC, GAC, and WMF panel.
By talking with members of the several chapters I got informed about the
Wikisource-oriented efforts that are happening on each community. I found a
pity that this kind of information is not shared at international level,
since there are always lessons to be learn and new ideas that can help any
Wikisource language community (for instance the DIY-scanners from WM
Argentina). Some effort will be neded to collect more stories, probably
during Wikimania.
I also seeked advice about how to further promote the WsCUG, so it can
benefit all Wikisource members with projects funded at international level.
Discussing this matters with GAC and FDC members was useful, since they
informed me about how to shape proposals in a sustainable way. I also
approached WMDE and they were willing to provide help, as they did to the
German Wikisource by helping to organize their meet-up last year
All in all, it was a positive experience that can help the WsCUG to move
forward. I will talk about concrete actions in a different email.
Cheers,
Micru
