Dear all,
user Alex Brollo has developed a very interesting tool which I think many
of you will find very useful.
(afaiu he developed this from a previous tool, but he can explain it better)
To test it, go on your oldwikisource account,
and in User:YOU/vector.js copy this:
importScript("User:Alex_brollo/cornersDependencies.js");
importScript("User:Alex brollo/corners.js");
importStylesheet("User:Alex brollo/common.css");
The tool will appear under Tools, and it's called "Ritaglio immagini" (crop
images).
It opens a window which allows you to select and crop an image directy on
the page.
It is extremely useful to use illustration directly on the page.
It is usable both in View and Edit mode.
In the Italian Wikisource we have made it a Gadget and button, so it's
active for everyone.

I (painfully) opened a bug into Bugzilla asking for djvulibre binaries
installation into Labs. Any new about? Were they already installed and I
asked unusefully? Are they - as I presume - a necessary tool for
wikisource?
Alex
Hi,
I must say that this contest really works well as a "excuse" to ask for
promotion that otherwise wouldn't happen.
So far, thanks to the contest, the Catalan Wikisource appeared in at least
6 websites/blogs/news outlet, some of them minor, but other as important
for us as the National Library of Catalonia (who were so kind to announce
us on their facebook and twitter accounts).
So I recommend to take advantage of the opportunity and contact AS MANY
BLOGS AND ORGANIZATIONS AS POSSIBLE, even better if they are libraries or
literary blogs. It doesn't matter if you think it is too late for
participating or not worth the effort, they can also inform about the
results :)
I can attest that it does work as a promotion tool and letting people be
more aware of our existence :)
Micru
Dear Wikisourcerors,
English, Catalan and Italian Wikisource are running a proofreading contest.
Looking at the stats (http://toolserver.org/~phe/statistics.php?diff=1)
we see that the Italian Wikisource is way more succesfull: this is probably
due to the fact that we have a link to the contest on the Italian
Wikipedia.
I would suggest you to ask the community to run it for you for the last
days,
it could be a boost for the contest.
And, hopefully, some users will stay :-)
Aubrey
PS: I also think that the "lottery" prize, which we copied from the Catalan
contest, is a great idea. In the Italian contest, the second and third
prize will be extracted from the validated pages: this means that everyone
has a chance to win, and the more I read the more chance I have.
Hi all,
KRLS and I have been working on a tool to count the number of points for
the proofreading contest organized in Catalan wikisource, which could prove
useful for others running the contest. There are no bugs that we know of,
but beware for it comes with no warranty ;-).
The code can be found at http://pastebin.com/gkPVLDHB and uses
pywikipedia's latest version ("core"/"rewrite"). You can also find
annotations on what is to be changed for other editions. Basically,
variables "llibres" and "end" need to be replaced by whatever books are
used, and the length of each. You should also take into account the fact
that it uses UTC time; adapt lines 71, 77 and 80 to your needs.
I think that's all. In case you find bugs or need some extra features count
with KRLS and me.
Joan Creus.
Dear all, Micru and I are finishing the reporting and the analysis for the
survey.
You can find the work in progress here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikisource_Community_User_Group/Wikisource_…
As we have a deadline for our IEG final report,
we would like to have this survey report finished as well.
So, we are asking you few things:
* please check if there are some data and things that still need to be
translated
* give us feedback on the analysis
* tell us what you think.
It's crucially important that you can help us as soon as possible (for
example, for the translation).
Thanks.
Aubrey
Hi everyone!
A major update of the ProofreadPage extension will be rolled out next Monday, The 25th November. Most of the code related to Page: pages, including the edition interface, have been rewritten by Aarti Dwivedi (User:Rtdwivedi) with my help as part of the Google Summer of Code 2013 project in order to have a cleaner and more maintainable code that will allow an easier fix of dozens of known bugs.
We have tried to keep the same user interface and to don’t break any features with the help of automated testing. The only big user interface change is that the links for previous, next and index pages are only displayed as icon on Vector skin (but remains as textual links on the other skins).
The HTML structure of view and edit modes of Page: pages have been changed, so some user scripts may be broken. OldWikisource scripts have been updated by User:Phe (many thanks to him) but some bugs may appear when the new code will be rolled out.
The new code is currently testable on test2.wikipedia.org. Here I’ve created two pages in order to hep testing: https://test2.wikipedia.org/s/9gi and https://test2.wikipedia.org/s/9i4 (notice that features added by OldWikisource scripts aren’t active there).

@Richard: please do request a central notice. Our outreach capabilities are
quite limited and all help to spread the word will be very much
appreciated. About the logo, what do you think of adding some little
bubbles around the circled 10 as to show some effervescence? Just if you
make it look good :)
@Matthew: if the blog post could go live this Friday on 00:00 UTC that
would be great, since it would allow casual blog readers to get ready for
the competition before it begins.
