Subject: [Analytics] MediaWiki sites activity analyzier
To: analyticswm <analytics(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Hi guys,
There is a new tool in MetricsGrimoire used to analyze the activity in
MediaWiki sites:
https://github.com/MetricsGrimoire/MediaWikiAnalysis
It uses the MediaWiki API so it could be used with any MediaWiki based
site (recently enough to have the needed API).
You can see it working in the Tech Community Metrics dashboard applied
to mediawiki.org:
http://korma.wmflabs.org/browser/mediawiki.html
Right now it shows:
* Total page created and evolution in time of page creation.
* The same for editions
* The same for editors
It has incremental support so in panel is going to be updated daily. The
panel does not include bot filtering yet.
Cheers

Saludos cordiales,

O Névio me encaminhou 3
Agradeço as dicas e reflexões, vou estudar melhor as
questões e retorno a vocês. Envio, portanto agora, novamente o texto do
sociais e tecnologias locais, música, artesanato, etc).
as comunidades possuem internet.
Chandra
Pessoal de Brasília,
vejam pedido do pessoal da Ucrânia. Se tiverem oportunidade de contribuir,
aí está o email do voluntário.
Abs!

Subject: [Iberocoop-general] Embassies' photo request
To: iberocoop-general(a)listas.iberocoop.org
¡Hola la todos!
Sorry for writing in bad English and not in Spanish.
I need a small help from Spanish and not only ;) community:
In case if you live in a capital city of a country (e.g. London, Madrid,
Lima and so on) I would like you to make a photo of Ukrainian Embassy if it
exist in your country (yep in some countries including Ukraine itself
police usually not happy when someone does it but it should be not illegal
as well (e.g. they are not happy when somebody makes a photo of railway or
subway station as well)).
Here is a category of articles about embassies in ukwiki that are lacking
photo in infobox (which may be either written in article itself or as the
property on Wikidata):
As most of you probable are uk-0 here is an enwiki's navbox:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Diplomatic_missions_of_Ukraine and
actually almost each countries' Embassy lacks a photo in wiki (even if you
make a photo of few that already have it it would be cool anyway, sure).
There is a link to
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_diplomatic_missions_of_Ukraine in the
navbox where you can find list of consulates as well - if you can make a
photo of them it would be cool as well.
Addresses of embassies are available on Ukraine's ministry of foreign
affairs' site and there is a direct link to pages in Ukrainian there from
infobox parameter in ukwiki.
Although these pages have English and/or sometimes Spanish, Portuguese,
German (depending on country of where the embassy is in sure) it may be
difficult for you to find a lang-switcher in page in Ukrainian so feel free
to ask me a direct link - just say me in what city or country you would
like to help me with making a photo)
Thanks you in advance,

Subject: Wikimania 2015 - Call for Jury volunteers
To: "Wikimania general list (open subscription)" <
wikimania-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Dear all,
Soon we will be kicking off the selection process for deciding where we
will hold Wikimania 2015[0].
The Requests for Proposals (RfP) is being written right now[1], and will be
coming out soon, but in this e-mail we would like to invite volunteers to
serve on the selection jury[2]. The jury will select the winning bid based
on published criteria, reviewing the bids from January onwards until the
final selection is made in April 2014.
This is roughly 30-40 hours' work, and is key to us making Wikimania a
strong, healthy community conference that we all can enjoy. The Wikimania
Committee will select a jury that is a balanced representation of the
community, from a diverse range of backgrounds, sexes, languages, cultures
and regions of the world.
The main criteria are as follows:
* You want to help make Wikimania as great a celebration of the community
as we can make it;
* You can represent some of the Wikimedia community's varied projects and
activities;
* You have some experience of community events, meetings, conferences, or
want to learn;
* You have some free time during the selection period, especially late
March and early April; and
* You are not closely involved in any bid (it's a conflict of interest).
If you would like to serve on the jury, please e-mail Florence Devouard
(off-list) [[Wikipedia:User:Anthere]] at fdevouard @ wikimedia.org by 12
November. We will announce the jury in two weeks' time.
Please help us by translating this message and passing it on to your wiki's
community for those that don't read these mailing lists.
Thank you, and good luck to all Bids.

Subject: [Wikimedia-l] Become a member of the Affiliations Committee!
To: wikimediaannounce-l <WikimediaAnnounce-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Cc: Wikimedia Mailing List <wikimedia-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
// For translated versions, please consult

//
Dear all,
The Affiliations Committee [1], the committee that is responsible for
guiding volunteers in establishing Chapters, User Groups and Thematic
Organizations and approving them when they are ready is looking for new
members.
The main focus of AffCom is to guide groups of volunteers in forming
affiliates. We make sure that the groups are large enough to be viable (and
advise them on how to get bigger), review bylaws for compliance with the
requirements and best practices, and advise the Board of the Wikimedia
Foundation on issues connected to Chapters, Thematic Organizations and User
Groups.
This requires communication with volunteers all over the World, negotiating
skills and cultural sensitivity and the ability to understand legal texts.
We try to get a healthy mix of different skill sets in our membership.
Key skills/experience that we are looking for in candidate members, are
typically:
is
* Excitement by the challenge of helping to empower groups of volunteers
worldwide
* Willingness to process applications through a set, perhaps bureaucratic
process
* Readiness to participate in (movement roles) political discussions on the
role and future of affiliates, models of affiliations, and similar questions
* 5 hours per week availability[2], and the time to participate in a
monthly ~2 hour phone meeting
* International orientation
* Very good communication skills in English
* Ability to work and communicate with other cultures, languages andcultures
* Strong understanding of the structure and work of affiliates and the WMF
* Knowledge of different legal systems, experience in community building
and organising is a plus
* Communication skills in other languages are a major plus
* Experience with or in an active affiliate is a major plus
In 2012 new types of affiliations were introduced and the role of the
Committee has increased in guiding through volunteers towards affiliation
models that empower them to further our mission, and making sure these
models meet the needs of the volunteers and the movement. We are looking
for new people to help, who are not afraid of the workload and are
motivated by helping other volunteers come together forming communities
that further our mission around the world.
Members are usually selected every twelve months for staggered two year
terms. The applications will be voted on by the current members not seeking
re-election, taking into account comments put forward by the committee's
members, advisers, WMF staff and board liaisons based on the above
membership criteria. A final decision will be made by the end of the year,
with new members expected to join on or around 1 January 2014.
If you are interested, You can send your applications with your full name,
contact data (e-mail address, wiki username), relevant experience and
motivation letter to our vice-chair Carlos Colina at jewbask AT
wikimedia.org.ve by December 5, 2013. You will get a confirmation that your
application came through.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me or Carlos. We
are happy to chat or have a phone/VoIP call with anyone about our work, if
this helps them decide to apply.
Please distribute this call among your networks, and do apply if you are
interested.[3]
