(moving thread from juriwiki to foundation-l)
I feel that we somehow should forbid our copiers to copy wikipedia: and user: pages they are not encyclopedic content. I hate the fact that my name is on their site and mentioned at google higher than mu usernamesite is at wikipedia.
Since the content of those namespaces is GFDL, we can't forbid anyone using it. What we should be looking to do instead is to make it very easy to copy just the main namespace, meaning mirrors would choose to do that rather than using their current method of taking the whole database. I know suggestions have been made for this before, so does anyone know if there's a page on the wiki about creating some sort of "mirror program" making it easy for reusers of our content to take the content we want them to take, and making it easy for them to abide by the GFDL?

G'day all,
Most people would be aware of the boring vandal who insists on putting "ass pus" and "pelican shit" on the front pages of many of our projects (at least english ones, i dont know about other langs). Well on the smaller projects (such as wikibooks, wikinews etc) it can often be some time before an admin happens to look at the front page and realise someone needs banning. Yesterday s/he vanadalised for almost half an hour before i saw the front page of wikibooks and banned him/er.
Anyway my suggestion is this, create an rc bot in irc which reports on any non-admin edit to the front page (or any of the front page templates) on all the projects (except perhaps wikinews whose front page tends to change a lot more than other projects, and wikipedia who is just so huge that it doesnt really need it), and either create a new chanell for it (like all the other rc chanells) or just put it straight into one of the frequently used chanells such as #wikimedia. If this has already been done, i apoligise since i havent been able to get onto IRC in the last few months due to the stupid uni network im behind.
just an idea...
paz y amor, -rjs.

If I recall correctly, ASV is only a pestilence on English project (and meta, somehow). I am not sure on German project, but Japanese projects haven't been suffered ASV/WoW.

I am not sure it is a good idea, at least on English Wikiquote Main Page is not his or her main target, in average other pages like VP or VfD are more frequently suffered from my observation.
As for English Wikipedia MP, for tentative solution I recommand you to protect those templates and to create a "recommendation page from the community".

It seems to me overreaction and not efficient; perhaps the majority of edits on MP or its subsidiary templates will be legitimate, and those [basically irrelevant] info intervene the conversation on the channel. I suppose "combined active RC" (like combination of EN WP + EN WB ...for example) would be helpful [smiling innocently].- or special rc channel reviewing a few pages on some major projects.
Just a thought.
What do you guys think of a bot that looks at edits by single individuals over multiple pages to see how identical they are?
Say if VandalKing went to add "You feel foul" on 10 pages in a row, the bot would catch that and alert someone... In recent changes, add an option for "show only bots".
Thoughts?
Note that I don't want the discussion to turn to technical aspects just yet.
