This is just a quick update that we've completed our office move to 149 New Montgomery in San Francisco, which also means that the usability team is now integrated into the same location. This week we've had two days of tech meetings and two and a half days of all-staff meetings in the new space, which is very functional, thanks to the hard work of Daniel Phelps, James Owen, Steve Kent, Rob Halsell, Ariel Glenn, Fred Vassard, and many others who helped. It gives us some room to grow, breathe and meet, and more than a single bathroom :-). We'll post more details and photos to the blog and to Commons soon.

More pics will come with time for those who can't get enough of seeing office environments. ;-)

So who's idea was it to model it after Terry Gilliam's Brazil?

We can manage to create 3d copies of the globe but we can't manage to fix the logo? For shame ;-)
In all seriousness, new office looks nice.

Oh, that one looks awesome. Merchandise idea - having that 3D logo as a wall lamp would be legen(wait for it)dary. ;-)
Congratulations to the office, and especially Daniel, on the move -- the new space feels really comfortable and usable.

That's fair. For those not following the very slow-burning logo drama (complete with national media attention), there are 4-5 characters that have been corrected over time, and a question about accents to answer for the record: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Errors_in_the_Wikipedia_logo
A corrected version was used to make the 2.5D logo in those pics; we should update the official logo as well. (from that it would seem the casual consensus is: no accents, and each character is indeed meant to represent 'W' in the language in question, where possible) Is this already underway?

You are so very, very right. In the Taipei version, the lampshade would rotate through a neat cut in the wall.

Cary said yes: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Bastique#Wikipedia_logo. However, the page you linked is actually the old one. The new page with discussion/the new logo plan can be found at: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia/Logo.
Thanks. I was looking for this great graphic earlier for a presentation; it's a nice example of what collaboration on an image can look like. http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikisymbols.png
