Imagine that we had a tagline... identical for all projects.
All projects have their identities, their name, their logos (as
community wishes it), but same tagline, because basically, we want only
the same thing, right ?
Something like (just example) "Knowledge for all" (this one is actually
boring, that is for the example)
Then, even though all of our projects have different names, they get
united by a common tagline.
Wikipedia. Knowledge for all
Wikibooks. Knowledge for all
Wiktionary. Knowledge for all
etc...
Right now, I believe only Wikipedia has a sort of tag line, less and
less used it seems

On the way to my kids place... there is a line of fruit trees; Perhaps
30 of them next to each other, in line.
In winter, they all look the same.
Then, around march-april, they all blossom before they get leaves.
All of them are a beautiful pink. But one. Just one. White. Entirely
white in the pink line.
Clearly a mistake from the gardening center.
Each spring, I look at this beautiful line of trees, with the unique
white, and my thought is
"think different".
And each time I think of Apple. And I wonder if there is a place to
submit photographs to Apple, to represent the "think different".
Some taglines never make hits. Some taglines enter the common language.
They must not be boring long sentences, but very short.
Example
Volvo, for life
Nike, just do it
Melts in your mouth, not in your hands, Smarties (this one is cool,
because the brand name is different according to countries, but the
tagline is known worldwide)
Cialis, Will you be ready?

Actually, if we do not go for a common tag line, I think we should find
a meme. If not a tagline, it might be a mascot (something mentionned in
the history, look at logo discussion back in 2002). Of a buzz word. Or a
tune. Or an icon. Something simple... which will make everyone think of
the wikimedia projects.
