Hi everyone,
I was just curious, I did not see the survey results for the 2012 survey, and it seems there has not been any general editor surveys since then (with the exception of the more narrowly focused Global South User Survey), I was wondering if there was any reason for this lack of surveys and for the lack of 2012 survey results (perhaps some long policy discussion lost in the bowels of the mailing list)

Rand, I have raised this issue previously and I believe that large scale surveys stopped because they were expensive and updates are felt by WMF to be of low value. This issue might be revisited as strategic planning gets underway, so I'm a asking Philippe for an update. The strategic plan update is being is led by Lila and I have seen little in the way of outward-facing WMF actions so far. Hopefully Philippe knows the timeline for Strategic Plan development and we might even get a roadmap.

Hi Pine -
I know little more than you about the strategic planning efforts so far (that's my OLD job...) but I'll prod a few folks and see if I can't shake loose an answer. :-)

Thanks Philippe. I imagine that eventually someone other than Lila will be responsible for communication and admin support of the plan, and there is a budget for this activity so we might see an RFP soon for strategy consultants or contractors. In the meantime, thanks for adding Strategic Plan communiation to your job description; it's probably easier and more rewarding than your usual work anyway, and you can add the experience as another feather in your cap. ;)
