Whatever happened to the language committee? No new languages have been created or even approved for creation in a very long time with only two exceptions for Wikipedias - the Egyptian Arabic WP in November and the Pontic WP in March. There are no list archives posted since January, and the last time a language was even verified as "eligible" was in April. Did people simply stop requesting languages? What is going on?

It seems that Jesse is on vacations. While we are not super-active, there is some activity and a couple of discussions about the projects. I'll take care about archiving LangCom's mailing list until Jesse is back.
Hoi, There are a number of languages that are being verified. For one of them it is likely that we will ask approval within the week.
When I speak for myself, the facthas been that the biggest struggle has been getting the new projects actually created. I find that as a consequence my motivation has suffered. As a consequence I started to do other things .... Thanks, Gerard

This is fantastic news, I look forward to the announcement.

Yes, this is certainly very unfortunate.

Just to add the example: The project is waiting because of the [long] process of checking are the articles at Incubator written in that language or not. The safest method is to ask someone from LangCom, then someone of the contacts of LangCom's members, then contacts of contacts. This is a long process if we are talking about a random language.
At the other side, already existing languages are easy to handle (just localization is needed).
