Hi all,
We are at the moment working hard for the preparations for this year's WikiGap Campaign. As with most campaigns and events in the movement, we are working hard to adapt to a completely digital campaign.
I wanted to give a few updates.
First, we are working hard to develop some guidelines for a successful virtual WikiGap event. Our hope is that it can easily be modified to work for any digital editathon. The goal is to have it finalized and distributed by early next week.
Secondly, we have started a Facebook group for WikiGap organizers, participants, and supporters. If you are interested in organizing or taking part in a WikiGap event, you can join the Facebook group. We will give more regular updates there. Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/858908041562951
Thirdly, we summarized the outcome from last year's campaign a few days back. In spite of Covid-19, which forced a large amount of the events to be either canceled or entirely digital, 1,500 editors created or improved more than 20,000 articles, articles that in 2020 had more than 42 million views. Well done to everyone who took part!
Wish you all a nice weekend!

Thanks Eric for the updates.

Hi again,
A few further WikiGap updates!
- We are launching the global campaign and the WikiGap Challenge with a virtual event on 8 March. Find out more on the page on Meta https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiGap/2021/Global_kickoff or in the Facebook event https://www.facebook.com/events/109257844426064, and register here https://www.eventbrite.com/e/wikigap-kicking-off-the-global-campaign-tickets-141801918355?ref=estw . - We have now published some guidance on how to organize a successful WikiGap event virtually. As with all things Wikip/median, it is not finished – and I would love to have your thoughts and input, either here or on the talk page. You find the guidance here https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiGap/Virtual_WikiGap. - We will run a WikiGap Challenge https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiGap_Challenge this year too, of course. Like last year, women human rights defenders will be an important focus. We are also, with input from many previous attendees, re-doing the points system a bit. It is not fully established yet – so feel free to reach out with feedback and input also now. - Do you want to organize a WikiGap event but don't know how? Reach out to me and my colleagues and I will do our best to help!
Best
