Yes, I have tried this.
It preserves bold and italic text, headings, tables, and possibly other
stuff I haven't tried.
It doesn't preserve stuff that can be declared in a MediaWiki document
but only by using HTML, not MediaWiki markup - for example, coloured or
underlined text.
It doesn't appear to be able to import MediaWiki documents. I'm not sure
how it would handle things like templates anyway.
