Unless we're both missing something, I think you've hit on an important issue the tech people should look at. I would make the encyclopedia an even better tool for research.

Agreed, Toolserver is pretty much "take it as you find it", although full marks to its contributors for making the effort. However, it is, like some stuff around here, unsupported by Wikimedia other than they host it.
