Sending this separately so it isn't in the hiring announcement thread :) Per Ignore All Rules (which I guess doesn't really exist here so I'm ignoring it's absence to) I went ahead and subscribed foundation-l to WikimediaAnnouncements-l . So assuming the list admins are getting a "click here to confirm email" that was from me.

Thanks James. I think there may be something wonky with the announce list. I'm pretty sure foundation-l has already been subscribed (or at least, a subscription has been attempted) -- and although I am a subscriber, I didn't get the announcement. So something is probably awry...
hmm very weird, I would assume it should say "you are already subscribed" or something along those lines as well.. oh well hopefully we can fix it eventually so that I don't have to subscribe to both to satisfy my desire to know right away ;).

@Sue: Announce would be a restricted list most likley, so it probably bounced, hence why you didn't see it. @James: Do we really need this? Announce is/should be apparently set to forward any announcements as necessary already via the MM admin interface, although when the previous announcements were sent it was still a baby/new list and experienced some teething issues, And all replies are automatically sent to foundation-l even if the original message doesn't make it.

If there is a better way I'm more then happy with it but I do think we need it sending the announcements to both especially since the reply address is foundation-l. Getting replies to an email you haven't seen is excruciating :) It also makes sense to have this be the "verbose" list while that has just the announcements (which was the idea I thought it was meant for). Subscribing foundation-l to Wikimedia Announcements-l just seemed like the easiest way to do it at least from my end :).
I actually wonder if Sue didn't get the email because of her settings or email client.. I'm not sure if it is in the mailing list settings or if it's gmail but I do not get a copy of an email I sent out and if I remember correctly there was a mailing list option for that... I don't always remember correctly though :).

There *is* a mailing list setting (something like "receive my own posts"), but some e-mail servers (like gmail) won't let you see your own messages even with that set. :-)

For those that wondering, It is because GMail respects the relevant headers (eg: post id/thread id) that are added by the mailing list, and merges duplicate ones together (Which is why you commonly see me being slightly displeased when people cc threads over different lists).
