today and put it on commons with a name in the author place. that pic
is free under the licence. if you change the name of a user the name
on the pic can stay te same. or am i looking at the wrong place for

I think most authors would be outraged at this and consider it an
unethical action. When a picture claims it was authored by "User:Foo"
it isn't just an opaque text label, it's also connecting it to an
account and any mismatch would be very misleading.
