Can you cite the relevant legal code that states
they are perpetual?
I understand there was a recent case that went the
other way - that
Victor Hugo's descendants could not stop an
adaptation of Les
Miserables on moral grounds.

What was the ruling? Where the moral rights in
general invalidated or did the court only rule that
the adaption in question was not in violation of the
moral rights? I think it would have to be derogatory
in some manner to be in violation of the moral rights.
