Discussions as to the security of iframes are ongoing, such as
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T222807 and a number of others.
It is time to resolve this once and for all. How can we adjudicate this
question and say definitively that iframes mitigate the security risk of
running Javascript in the user's browser if certain specified requirements
are met?

Dear Colleagues,
After several months of engaging and collecting inputs on the Africa Agenda
Google documents, as per the 2023 working timeline, the updated draft has
now been published on Meta
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Afrika_Baraza/Africa_Agenda>. [English and
French translations for now]
I’m inviting you all, on behalf of the team working on the Africa Agenda,
to read through the document and share your final comments or thoughts on
the discussion page
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Afrika_Baraza/Africa_Agen…>
between
18 - 26 January.
Please be informed that this is the final stage of input collection and
general community review. Once this round of engagement concludes, the
additional comments and updates will be reviewed, and a final version will
be published by January 31st.
For additional information regarding the timelines and process of the
Africa Agenda, kindly refer to the FAQ section
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Afrika_Baraza/Africa_Agenda> on the Meta
page.
Kind regards,
Dear all,
On December 24, 2023, the annual scheduled meeting of the General Forum
(Forum of organization members) of Wikimedia UG Georgia [1] was held. The
main topic for discussion was the adoption of the organization's new
charter and the election of the organization's Board of Trustees according
to the new charter.
The General Forum unanimously adopted the new version of the organization's
charter [2], which the Wikimedia Foundation Affiliation Committee had
previously reviewed and confirmed. The Forum also elected [3] the following
five Wikipedians to members of the organization's Board of Trustees for 2
years (until the end of 2025):
1. David Asriashvili - Chair
2. Mariam Kvartskhava - Deputy Chair
3. Ekaterine Maisuradze - Member
4. Beka Baiashvili - Member
5. Giga Doguzovi - Member
I wish the new Board of Trustees a successful term and good luck.
On behalf of the Wikimedia Community User Group Georgia,
Mehman.

Dear Wikimedia community,
Today marks our friend Osama's thirtieth birthday, which, instead of
celebrating with his loved ones, he is spending in jail serving a 32 year
sentence.
Osama was an asset to the Wikimedia community and he is dearly missed.
Today, several civil society organizations have come together to wish him a
happy birthday and call for his and Ziyad's release.

Happy birthday Osama!
Hello all,
Apologies for cross-posting.
For those who have not noticed till now, Google is not indexing any
Wikisource language editions for the last couple of years which practically
means that any Wikisource contents in any languages, which are being
created in these years, are not searchable on Google and hence largely
remain invisible on the web.
This is an extremely demotivating and frustrating situation for the
existing Wikisource volunteers to witness, draining away all of our past
and current efforts to bring and retain viewers, readers, GLAM partners and
any potential new editors. We already have a very low awareness and
visibility about Wikisource among general internet users due to lack of
organized support in these years but the invisibility on Google search
engine could become the last nail in our coffin, unless it is fixed soon.
There is a phabricator ticket raised by Darwinius back in December 2022 -
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T325607.
Can't this issue be put into priority by sys admins and WMF to work upon?
Wikisource is still a sister project of Wikimedia and it needs some very
basic care, after all.
Regards,
Bodhisattwa
(Bengali Wikisource volunteer)
