I don't really mind if someone impersonates me. I'm going to mind quite a
bit if I try to edit some small wiki and find that I'm blocked.

Perhaps someone can explain this to me a bit better... for instance, my username on en: is Philippe. There is a Philippe on just about every other project. How will that work? For instance, will several other Philippes all need to change their (well-established in most cases - thousands of edits) usernames? That sounds like a recipe for disaster. A website I used to be on lost a significant number of users over something similar (several city based websites that went to a single login). Please excuse me if this is a question which has been asked before.

Yes, we do... but that may not come up any time soon. Brion is working on
it, but he also has many other important things to do.

Hoi,
This is such a waste of time.
We need single user login.

Not so long ago, I asked Brion if it was possible to run a query on the
databases to see what wikis I actually have account on. With this neat
tool, I now know. I trust all accounts are mine because of my unique
username. And checking for impostors shouldn't be that hard.

Success! I couldn't log in with any of my standard passwords, nor
could I sign up, so I clicked "e-mail new password" and then
eventually remembered where to check the email for my old ISP (which
changed name 3 times, adding to the memory difficulties) and found the
new password! Very complicated!
I'm still concerned about GDFL issues with this. My edits have been
moved from one account of mine to another without any apparent way of
knowing both the accounts were mine (I didn't even know they were!).
Does that not violate the attribution requirements of the GDFL?
Hoi,
That used to be a good excuse, after over a year it is wearing thin as a
good excuse.
Thanks,

Many smaller wikis are cracking down on cross-wiki accounts to stop
impersonation. If you create an account on another Wikimedia Project, make
sure it is linked from your main account. Otherwise, it may get blocked.
An easy way to do all this is to create a master list of your accounts at
Meta and link that page to all your other sites. This will, hopefully, make
it harder for you to be impersonated, and easier for your accounts to be
identified.
A tool that can be used to identify accounts that aren't yours can be found
at: http://tools.wikimedia.de/~interiot/cgi-bin/queries/SUL.

I would like to offer to serve as a volunteer assisting with the board elections. I am editor at en-wikipedia. I do not know any of the candidates and would not be subject to undue influence. I am knowledgeable of the policies and feel I am capable of assisting. My schedule is flexible and I am able to be available whenever I am needed.
Thank you for your consideration.

My experience is limited to the english wikipedia. While I have an account at Commons it is little used.

Recently ran across a site, http://assignmine.com/, that's using a
banner ad describing itself as "Wikipedia for assignments." (Will be
happy to send a screenshot upon request.) Seems to me that this would
be an issue with use of the trademark, but what would generally be the
position on this?
