Hello,
My name is Rexford. Myself and a couple of friends of mine are currently working on making a list of monuments, forts and museums here in Ghana (where I live).
We've come up with the list of many of the forts, monuments, and museums, with pictures attached to few.
Please view where we've reached so far here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghana%27s_material_cultural_heritage
I want to know about two points, which are
1. the best (recommended) template to use for our listings; and 2. suggestion on how to number the list.
Any help? Will love to hear from you!
Thanks.
Hi Rexford,

Good job! I'd consider to create separate lists for each region to keep it compact.
- the best (recommended) template to use for our listings; and
As far as I can see, you use more or less the same fields as the Rijksmonumenten list on en.wp,
example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rijksmonuments_in_Bloemendaal_%28town%...
The templates for this are
Template:Rijksmonument_header Template:Rijksmonument_row
They are quite advanced, as they use the sub template
Template:UploadCampaignLink
which includes a link to the WLM Upload Wizard campaign and passes the list information (ID, name etc.) to the upload form. This applies only if you create an upload campaign for Ghana monuments - depends if you participate in WLM or not!
I'd recommend to copy the template and create a Ghana cultural heritage template, then adapt it to your needs.
- suggestion on how to number the list.
First choice is always the "official" id of the monuments. Did you take the information from http://www.ghanamuseums.org/forts/forts-castles.php here? If so, you could consider using these IDs, combined with the region key, e.g.
A-1 A-2 B-3
etc. This way you could keep them unique.
Or do you have other material? There is no numbering, ids or such?
If no official IDs are available, it's a bit tricky: creating own ids is disputed to be original research... you could consider to hide the id in the list, but in this case users who upload images the "usual way", not over the link and the upload wizard, cannot use the id to identify the monument. We had some discussions about this, but in the end there are only suggestions, and a decision of the local team.
I hope it helps a bit, if it's confusing please ask, sometimes I'm too deep into a topic to make it clear for others ;-)
Regards, elke
Many thanks elya, would it be possible that somebody helps in creating "generally usable' English templates? One of the most important points would be that these monuments show up in the wlm android app, correct me if i m wrong rexford.
I tried to have a look how this would work but i find this entry barrier particularly high, so any help to make it easier is appreciated.
For the numbering scheme we should really provide something. In the majority of countries this does just not exist and the exposed numbers are usually internal database numbers, with no guarantee attached to them. In the swiss case we just took them anyway.
