Hello all,
Before Wiki Loves Monuments can fully start this year, I need some
translations and information. Please look if you speak one of the languages
and/or are able to provide specific information.
== Translations ==
For some templates and a system message I need a translation in several
languages. If it is not possible to create the template yourself, please
add them to my talk page on Commons:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Romaine
(I prefer my talk page on Commons, but if you really prefer otherwise,
e-mail can be used as well.)
The following templates need a translation into:
Irish (ga)
Khmer (km)
Kurdish (ku)
Latvian (lv)
Malagasy (mg)
The templates:
*
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Upload_campaign_header_Wiki_Love…
This template is shown in August above the upload campaign when the contest
hasn't started yet. This template is not country specific: also people from
outside your country will see these translations.
*
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Upload_campaign_header_Wiki_Love…
This template is shown in October above the upload campaign when the
contest has finished. (Users can use this campaign also in other months
than September, but those pictures aren't participating in the picture
contest.) This template is not country specific: also people from outside
your country will see these translations.
*
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Upload_campaign_header_Wiki_Love…
This template is shown the whole year above an existing upload campaign of
a country that does not participate in Wiki Loves Monuments. The campaign
can be used for uploading pictures during the whole year, but images aren't
participating in the picture contest. This template is not country specific.
*
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Upload_campaign_use_Wiki_Loves_M…
This template is shown after someone has uploaded a picture. This template
is not country specific.
*
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2014
This template is put on images that are uploaded within the contest. This
template is not country specific, but it will put a country specific
category on all files uploaded in the international contest. (If an image
is not eligible according the rules, this template should be removed from
that file page.)
-----------------------------
Each country has a country specific template that is shown above the upload
wizard during September and needs a translation in a particular language
only:
Irish (ga):
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Upload_campaign_header_wlm-ie
Khmer (km):
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Upload_campaign_header_wlm-kh
Kurdish (ku):
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Upload_campaign_header_wlm-iq
Latvian (lv):
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Upload_campaign_header_wlm-lv
Malagasy (mg):
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Upload_campaign_header_wlm-mg
Optional:
Spanish (es):
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Upload_campaign_header_wlm-ma
-----------------------------
And I need a translation of "Monument ID" in the languages:
Irish (ga)
Khmer (km)
Kurdish (ku)
Latvian (lv)
Malagasy (mg)
Please add the translation(s) to my talk page on Commons:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Romaine
(I prefer my talk page on Commons, but if you really prefer otherwise,
e-mail can be used as well.)
== Lists of monuments ==
Of some countries I do not know yet where the lists of monuments are
situated. Please add a link to at least one list to my talk page on
Commons:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Romaine
Of these countries I miss the monument lists:
Cambodia
Iraq
Latvia
Lebanon
Madagascar
Morocco
Palestine
Qatar
Other countries: if you use a different list than in 2013, please let me
know as well!!
We need to know for the upload wizard where the list(s) are.
When we know where the lists are, we can create tools based on the list to
make it easier for you to maintain and organize Wiki Loves Monuments.
(More information about lists can be found in the second and third section
on
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2014/Upload_…
)
== Landing pages ==
A landing page is the page where visitors will go to when they click on the
banner on top of Wikipedia/Commons/Wikimedia wiki. A landing page is
maintained by the national team and can be an external web page or a page
on a wiki (for example Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2014 in
Xxx/Participate).
I will check if your website/landing page exists and contains 2014
information.
*** The landing page must be linked on this page: ***
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2014/Centra…
To do: please check if yours is there!
== CentralNotice texts ==
The text which will be shown in the CentralNotice must be translated in as
many languages as possible so reach as many people as possible in their own
language.
The following languages have no translation yet for the banner for the
CentralNotice:
Hebrew (he)
Khmer (km)
Kurdish (ku)
Latvian (lv)
Malagasy (mg)
To do: Add the translations to this page:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2014/Central…
To do: Check in the list if you know a language which is not in the table
yet. We need as many (other) languages as possible to reach as many people
around the world.
The CentralNotice banner will be only activated in your country when all
the information is supplied and the requirements are met (described on the
page).
== How to contact me? ==
The best way is to visit the #Wikilovesmonuments chat (IRC) channel at
Freenode:
http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=%23wikilovesmonuments
A second good one is my talk page on Commons:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Romaine
And if you really prefer otherwise, you can use this e-mail address to mail
me. The other two are faster when it is urgent.
To do: enjoy the contest soon! :-)
Romaine
