I have created a WikiLovesMonuments MediaWiki extension, for supporting the websites of the different editions.
Currently, its most prominent feature is its ability to show a portlet with all participating countries and linking to its website.
It also provides some basic info and translations for common texts that are likely to appear on many sites: http://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special%3AMessageGroupStats&group...
You can view it on: * http://www.wikilm.es/
and in English version: * http://www.wikilm.es/en/
navigation and other countries sidebar sections are translated by this extension :)
Extension documentation: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:WikiLovesMonuments
If there is some feature you miss, suggestions are welcome.

Please keep the extension synced if there are changes (or drop me a note and I'll do it).
Best regards

Maybe you could make something like that for Wordpress? A lot of sites are using that.....
Maarten
Also added support for the statistics code to the extension.

I don't have experience developing for WordPress. It'd be preferable if someone else knowing WordPress (Hay?) would prepare the code for adding the items into the WordPress sidebar. Then using the same data would in both extensions would be simple.
