Hi all!
As many of you may be aware, Wikimedia Sweden is working on getting the monument data to Wikidata. At the hackathon https://wikimania2016.wikimedia.org/wiki/Hackathon/Programbefore Wikimania, we would like to do an import sprint, where you as experts on your local heritage can help them out to get the monument lists imported!
Please do indicate your interest both here and on Phabricator: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T137457
The room will be announced later, but it will take place either way in Esino Lario, at the primary school on Wednesday 22 June.
Both coders and wikidata wizards who would like to help with the import, as people who know their heritage lists well, and want to help us out understand the data better are very welcome!
If you have any questions, just shoot!
Best,
Lodewijk
Hi Lodewijk,
As far as the Swiss monuments lists are concerned, I’m happy to assist remotely during the Esino Lario Hackathon or in person the week after at the Swiss Open Cultural Data Hackathon (http://make.opendata.ch/wiki/event:2016-07).
Cheers, Beat

Hi all,
My name is Juliana Monteiro and I am from São Paulo, Brazil. I work as a collection manager at the Immigration Museum of the State of São Paulo and my job involves to help the museum to work with Wikimedia Projects, especially the Commons. Not so long ago, I have started to colaborate as a volunteer with the Brazilian Wikimedia Group of Research and Education, in order to kickoff of some GLAM Projects.
So, after reading the messages below, I would like to know if it is possible to colaborate from Brazil (due to time zones etc) - and, if it is, what I could do.
Best regards,
Juliana

Hi Juliana,
Glad to see you're on board with the Brazilian group. Are you in touch already with the people who organised WLM in Brasil last year https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikip%C3%A9dia:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2015/Brasil? I assume you are. I can't really figure out what is the source for the monument lists displayed there, and some help in describing that might indeed be helpful.
Best, Lodewijk

Juliana is now part of our team and she is interested to help us to improve the currently list of Monuments.
Last year we added only Monuments registered by the federal government.
Juliana is trying to update our lists with Monuments registered by some Brazilian States and cities departments.Best regards

Thanks for the explanation! Good to hear of the expansion, always exciting.
The idea of the import sprint was to use the availability of the people at wikimania to our advantage to work away part of the lists that are available, using local knowledge. But also after Wikimania, people could still get in touch with John, and the idea is to get as many monument lists as possible on Wikidata! The drive won't go away after it.
John, maybe we can set up a list somewhere (if it doesn't exist yet) of all the sources, so that importing becomes easier that way?
Lodewijk
