Hi all, I was checking on the Guinness Book of Records and it seems we may have broken a world record. The largest photography competition so far could only attract 126,521 entries [1] and we're now well past 133k Congratulations to everyone! Marco (Cruccone)

Also, http://concours.photo.fr/ claims to be the largest photo contest of the world - but they state nowhere (afaict) how many submissions they got.

But are there any more demands? Like a maximum per participants, the japanese competition had 40k participants, we only have 5k. Mvg, BAs

Don't you need to pay for that?
I don't know, but you should just try until it asks you to pay.

In the French FAQ, it says you have to register *before* attempting to break a record, and that they can't validate a record if it is not the case.

I agree, in general to be in the Guinness the event must be announced before and must be controlled in order to prevent frauds.

There are lots of records like: Largest pumpkin/person. Those records you can't say on forehand that you're gonne break them, I believe if you can proof afterwards it's fine as well.

I'm pretty sure that the world record for the biggest encyclopedia (guess which one it is...) wasn't registrered beforehand. I think there is enough public documentation about WLM to certify the record, it's not the case like the biggest cake where someone from Guinness must see the cake before it gets eaten. Anyway, I think getting into the Guinness would just be a plus to the success of WLM, and even if we won't get it the competition will be a hug success anyway. Marco
Well it could have helped us. These things usually have a dramatic effect in participation numbers, I believe..
I remember joking about this a long time ago when we just started the project. Would be awesome if we woulg get into the Guiness Book of Records!
