Dear all,
For the exhibition we should definitely add QRpedia codes to the photo labels. In this context all we'd need is to put about a half-inch square QR code somewhere on the label with the rest of the text. When scanned with a smart phone, the phone will automatically connect to the Wikipedia article on the subject of the photo in the preferred language set on the phone. If no article exists in that language it will give the scanner a choice of languages available.
Of course we would have to make sure there is an article available for each photo, but with only 13 photos this shouldn't be too hard. It would also be nice if each article would be translated into as many languages as possible. As a group, we have all the tools needed to do this fairly quickly as long as the articles get translated at the start into one of the more commonly used languages on Wikipedia. I'd also suggest that we make an effort to get the 13 articles translated into the languages of the countries where the exhibition will be held.
It's general practice to add near the code some text like "From Wikipedia" so that users know where the code connects, but I think in this context it would be absolutely clear that the connection would be to Wikipedia, whether or not the words were included. Note that using Wikipedia wordmarks or trademarks would require specific permission from the WMF, which I'd think is not worth the hassle.
All you have to do to use QRpedia is go to the site http://qrpedia.org/ copy the url for the Wikipedia article, e.g. for Congressional Cemetery http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congressional_Cemetery and put that text into the lower box on the qrpedia page (where it says "Paste your Wikipedia URL here"). In the upper box the QR code appears immediately, and the number of languages available is displayed at the bottom of the page. Click on the QR code and save, paste it into the document used for the photo labels and resize. That's it.
The result might look like http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:QR_code_Congressional_Cemetery.jpg but we'd have more text for a photo label.

Hi there, I am happy to announce that we are now able to organise a travelling photo exhibition consisting of the 12 winning Wiki Loves Monuments 2013 pictures, as chosen by the international jury (which, by the way, should be announced soon!).
We intend to have the exhibition visit about 6-10 places around the world from December 2012 until around August-September 2013, with almost all the costs being covered from the international budget.
As I've been sending a lot of e-mails to this list in the past few days, I'll make this long story short :-) Please read all the details at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2012/Exhibition, write down your names in the table at the bottom of the page, and do not hesitate to ask questions if you'll have them :-))
The contact person from the team is Barbara who has all the details, but the rest of the team can also help you with more general questions.
Thanks,
Tomasz W. Koz?owski a.k.a. [[user:odder]]
