I would suggest to be more flexible with the timeline - I mean - at least in Poland - announcing the start of the contest on September is not very good idea. Most people have time to take pictures during vacations. Students in Poland have vactions from mid June till October 1st - primary and secondary pupils from June 25 till September 1.
Moreover we plan to organise a big event on September 24 - as it is X-birthday of Polish Wikipedia - therefore the celebration of the end of the Polish contenst could be a part of that event.

The timeline is very flexible, it's an indicator around what time something should probably happen. Doing the first announcement for WLM in September would be too late, that's why we included "Do a pre announcement at your local village pump" in May. You could of course already start now, but by May you should have done something.

Yes, get them informed early so that they can take lot's of pictures!

That sounds like a great plan!
