Hello all,
On the English Wikipedia there are two groups of monument lists for Japan, but those are in a format which isn't handy and can't be used easy for Wiki Loves Monuments.
Is anyone willling (and able) to convert the lists to a template based system with template rows?
The first group of lists can be found at and navigate through the navigational template: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Historic_Sites_of_Japan_%28Iwate%29
The first group of lists can be found at and navigate through the navigational template: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Places_of_Scenic_Beauty_of_Japan_%28Fu...
The lists must have a unique identifier.
Thanks! Romaine
Template needs to be created, but what is making complicated here is the reference column and the type column. Any idea how we can play with that, Romaine??

Hello Karthik,
At first I must mention that the two groups of list need each their own template system.
Historic Sites: The url can be in the row template, the number of the last id (that what follows after item_id=) need to be put in the table itself (is the unique identifier of a monument) en should be visible. The url http://kunishitei.bunka.go.jp/bsys/maindetails.asp?register_id=401&item_... should be split into http://kunishitei.bunka.go.jp/bsys/maindetails.asp?register_id=401&item_... what goes into the row template and 3372 what goes into the row of a table on the list page.
Scenic Beauty: same story, but here the url is http://www.bunka.go.jp/bsys/maindetails.asp?register_id=401&item_id=0000... which should be split into http://www.bunka.go.jp/bsys/maindetails.asp?register_id=401&item_id= in the row template and the 00003724 should be in the list.

Alright Romaine,
if you can just help me with the template, I can make sure to implement them on-wiki. You know that I'm not so a technical person but I think I can implement them well.

Hi,
is there currently a local team in Japan which likes to organize WLM there? Because it seems to me there is quite a lot of work to be done (the lists don't seem to be complete, and ideally the database of the government contains much more info, so it would be good to check whether that could be used somehow) and that doesn't make a lot of sense if there is no local team to carry it forward.
Also, the lists on jawiki makes much more sense to me (especially because the original is in Japanese).
In any case, the complete and much more rich database is on http://kunishitei.bunka.go.jp/bsys/searchlist.asp if you're interested. If there's a local team that is willing to help, I'd be happy to help them set up the templates.
