When I explained a sponsor that the Sagrada Família is the most photographed monument in Spain with 175 photos submited by 38 participants, then raised and obvious question: which are the monuments in Europe with most submissions?
Anyone can play some magic in the database to find it out?
Vicenç
Hello Vicenç, I know 2 monuments which have more pictures: the palace from Fontainebleau and the castle from Bouillon. But that's because I made over 200 pictures in both, so not really a fair comparison. Mvg, Bas

I think the number of photographers per monument is a better measure indeed. And I can imagine that a church in Cologne and/or the Eiffel tower beats that number...

Perhaps we should consider the ''most popular ones'' those with most participants.

In Russia for one of the nominations we made http://wlm.ruwiki.net/heritage
But our most popular monument isn't the most popular already, as I see.

Just to make it clear for those who are not yet fluent in Russian: The most photographed monument for WLM Russia 2011 was the Church of the Savior on Blood (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_the_Savior_on_Blood, 113 pictures), closely followed by the Saint Isaac's Cathedral (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Isaac%27s_Cathedral , 111). Btw just noticed that both articles badly need citations and copyediting, I will work on them tomorrow.
Cheers Yaroslav
The most photographed monument for WLM Sweden 2011 was Engelbrektsskyrkan with 134 images.

Is it this one http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engelbrektskyrkan ? It is very strange that it only has articles in Swedish, Finnish, and Polish (unless there are some connectivity problems).
Cheers Yaroslav
That's the one. But it is not _very_ strange, even I had not heard about the church before I moved to Stockholm.

The most photographed monument in Andorra is the dam and guard's house of Ràmio with 47 photos by 2 participants. It has no article. Not an impressive number, but it is interesting that it is also the most remote monument of Andorra. The two guys walked an hour to reach it through the World Heritage Site of Madriu Valley. It worths taking a long rest and they had time to take more shots than in other sites :-)

and obvious question: which are the monuments in Europe with most submissions?
We had this: http://www.wikilovesmonuments.org.pt/tools/stats/press.php
The most photographed was "Mosteiro de Batalha" and Elisardojm sent the biggest number in photographs for the same monument :)
I just added the most "visited" (photographed by) monument, and it seems to be "Torre de Belém" with 35 participants running for it.
Hey! :D
but..., I still have more photos of it...! :D

As expected :-) Sagrada Familia, Tarragona Cathedral and Alhambra :-) And Santa Maria del Mar very popular as well :-)
The third is the former Mosque (now Cathedral) of Cordoba, not the Alhambra. But both are very popular, of course.
