Hi all, greetings from India.
Hope everything is working as per schedule. Just to let you all confirm that we are participating this year. Though, we are gonna make the contest very simple in India.
As of now, I just wanted to ask if there is any tool to start voting from the very first day. It will be impossible for Jury to go through thousands of images and hence we will be depending on the India community to vote for top 100 or so which will be then sent to jury. *(Important and Urgent)*
1. Lists are prepared, thanks to Lodewijk :) 2. Media and Press releases is also taken care of now. 3. Upload Wizard is ready: http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:UploadWizard&camp... 4. The city of Hyderabad is confirmed for organising Photowalk, after amazed with WLM concept 5. Central notice should also work very best for India with minor promotions work done
Do let us know your views, thanks and all the best to all :)
Do we need a special upload campaign, like "wlm-gh"?
What makes a country qualify for that?
And how do we get it, if we qualify?
Thanks

Yes, it will help the uploading a lot.

You automatically do.
And how do we get it, if we qualify?
I've just created a basic wlm-gh campaign abnd made you a campaign editor. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadCampaign/wlm-gh Please provide the template used to mark the identifiers (that's missing from the bot config, too) and fill the other fields as appropiate. You can view other campaigns at: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadCampaigns

Thank you Maarten.
I think your email came in just at the right time. I'm 100% confused with how to complete the fields in there.
I'll get back to you guys if i find anything hard to understand with the manual too. ;-)
Will be right back...

I need help! I filled in some of the fields in the http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadCampaign/wlm-gh
However, when I click on http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:UploadWizard&camp... it sends me to the translation page.
Any reasons for that?
Can someone do *all *the settings for me?
Thank you!

You forgot the /$1 in the top template name. I fixed that.
Also, it seems you didn't add the correct template for the monument identifier template. Template:GH doesn't exist on Wikimedia Commons.
You should only pick *one* license option! If you pick more options, people get very quickly confused because they barely see the difference. Confused people are less likely to participate.

I'm confused on whether the /$1 should be used or not. In some cases (eg. Template:Upload campaign use Wiki Loves Monuments/xy) the {{translated tag|header}} is shown to the user, which is very bad. Template:Upload campaign header Wiki Loves Monuments 2012 August/xy seems to use {{Iftemplate|{{translated tag|header}}}} to avoid that.
Maybe we should instead try to use template Autotranslation there?
I don't know what is better in the long run, I just tried it and it worked :)

Thank you Lodewijk
I'm happy its now working. But can the language be changed from the 'en' to the 'ak'?
Every ghanaian who'll upload photos during the contest can read the english though. However, we wish to have the banner in our local language.
It doesn't change or make more people partake though, but we love to also have our local language there at least.
;-)
Now its functioning, i'll strictly analyse the settings and see how best to tweak them to suite what the wlm-gh wants.
Thank you guys

Hi Nkansah,
the language will depend on your own language settings. If you use commons in English, it will display in English. If you use it in 'ak' it will display that if available.
Best, Lodewijk

I think i use commons in english so will display the english. I have no problem with the english though. And i don't think any Ghanaian will have that.

Rexford, you mean the banner on wikipedia announcing the contest and then redirecting to the wmgh wlm landing page? I believe that should be possible, but i must admit i am not expert enough to tell who needs to do what for that.

That's because the header isn't exactly interpreted like a normal mediawiki page. Just use "
<noinclude> {{Iftemplate|{{translated tag|header}}}} </noinclude>" on the subpages.
Maybe we should instead try to use template Autotranslation there?
That won't work at all. Will ask around if someone can do (another) cleanup both run so the users don't get bothered with this.

Go to https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?action=edit&preload=Template%3... and translate it.
Can you also translate https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?action=edit&preload=Template%3... ?
