Hi everyone,
The WMF silently enabled Oauth on https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki . Most of you, if not all, have a SUL account. That means your Wikipedia account works on MediaWiki.org too. Now with the Oath interface this can be used to authenticate users. You can see it in action at https://tools.wmflabs.org/gerrit-patch-uploader/ . That means you can get rid of all the local authentication stuff we have right now.

I got an error 500 there, but anyway. I don't remember the outcome of the ever-repeating discussions on the topic: this works only for web applications as of now, right? Because each app needs to have a secret key which can't be distributed as, well, it's secret.
