Hi all,
just a short note: A German Wikipedia user has got a letter from a lawyer (in German "Abmahnung", in English [[en:Abmahnung]] too) to delete the image of a momument.

WMDE will support the Wikipedia in this legal case.
Raimond.
Thank you very much for sharing. It is worrying that it gets this far, but it was perhaps unavoidable as well. I'm glad it happens at 'low season' though, and that Wikimedia Deutschland is supportive of the user! Please keep us updated where possible.

And what is legal reason for this?
My question is more "obvious": What is the problem? (Sorry, I don't understand German.) _____ *Béria Lima* Wikimedia Portugal http://wikimedia.pt (351) 963 953 042

The problem owners see is their privacy. Apart of the FOP, some people have the point of view that their house/home is part of their private sphere (identifiable/personal data) that falls under the protection of the German privacy law. Partially, this opinion might derive from the fact that Google street view - voluntarily, to avoid "being evil" - pixelated houses if owners demanded.
The German privacy law - IANAL - is federative as the cultural sector (i.e. 16 different laws) and in this specific point mostly unspecific. There are few court cases that negate the opinion that the mere combination and publishing of exact addresses together with images of this address is a privacy problem, and that's up to now "our" legal opinion.
We will keep you up to date.
