Just as a matter of clarification, my sources tell me that Spain ranked fourth, not third, in the contest, with 16,595 images. Poland, on the other hand, gathered 16,833 pictures--exactly 238 more than Spain[1].

That doesn't count the images posted to WLM-ES through flickr, which were uploaded to Wikimedia Commons later.
If we look at the upload graph: Poland (Orange) stopped on September 30^th , with a few more files, but Spain (red) still got contributions later, fastly reaching 3^rd position. At November 11th 2011, Poland had 17002 files and Spain 17991. Some of them wouldn't be eligible for WLM (eg. confused users adding WLM template after it closed), but many would. According to note 40 of that paper, 415 files were uploaded to WLM-ES flickr group on September but uploaded to Commons in October.

Well, just last weekend I was visiting Luebeck and Guestrow and wanted to take pictures of some monuments. You guess what happened - there are no lists available for Schleswig-Holstein and no lists for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. I still managed to photograph something which hopefully in the end will turn out to be monuments, and even wrote down the addresses, but I guess it is safe to say that Germans missed a contribution of about a hundred pictures from me, just from one weekend. On the other hand, if they had the lists now, I would probably upload right away.

It's seems thata there is a mistake on the articles with license. They must be CC BY but in Spanish version they have changed it. We'll try to solve it.
