Dear friends,
I am happy to finally announce that Armenia is participating to WLM2013!
We were until now trying to find the list of monuments. And we did. The state monument list that we are going to use includes 23.460 monuments. We are now working to transfer this list to Armenian Wikipedia in the form of wiki-pages.
For instance you can see the list for one of the districts of Yerevan here https://hy.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D4%BF%D5%A5%D5%B6%D5%BF%D6%80%D5%B8%D5%B6_%D5%B0%D5%A1%D5%B4%D5%A1%D5%B5%D5%B6%D6%84%D5%AB_%D5%BA%D5%A1%D5%BF%D5%B4%D5%B8%D6%82%D5%A9%D5%B5%D5%A1%D5%B6_%D6%87_%D5%B4%D5%B7%D5%A1%D5%AF%D5%B8%D6%82%D5%B5%D5%A9%D5%AB_%D5%A1%D5%B6%D5%B7%D5%A1%D6%80%D5%AA_%D5%B0%D5%B8%D6%82%D5%B7%D5%A1%D6%80%D5%B1%D5%A1%D5%B6%D5%B6%D5%A5%D6%80%D5%AB_%D6%81%D5%A1%D5%B6%D5%AF_%28%D4%B5%D6%80%D6%87%D5%A1%D5%B6%29. Also, we are wandering if we should use the list of natural monuments as well (I didn't see any mention about natural monuments in our project page on Commons).
Also we are preparing to launch the website www.wikilovesmonuments.am soon and we are looking for sponsors/partners.
Because we are newcomers we will need your help and advices, especially when it comes translating the tools in Commons.
Best regards, Vachagan Gratian

Great, but you seem to have missed the part that we need structured template based lists, not wikitext, see https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Monuments_database#Structured_lis... You might want to read that first before doing more bot edits. Changing it now is easy, it becomes much harder after a lot of manual edits.

Dear Maarten,
Thank you. I wasn't aware about this. Thanks we will now import the lists using the instructions there! And also my second question: should we include natural monuments in our lists? Has anyone done that until now?

I think this might be a bit out of scope of the competition. If it's a different system than the 23.460 monuments you already have, I would leave it be for now.

I think this is indeed a complicated question. The definition of monuments is different in every country, countries have different understanding of 'heritage'. So you will see that some countries have included natural monuments in their lists too, and therefore the WLM will contain that too in those countries. But if you already have an extensive list of monuments (such as in your case), and they are on a separate list, I wouldn't recommend to include them, unless you have a very compelling reason to do so. 23.000 sounds like a very nice number of monuments!

In the header you can include information that is the same for all the following row templates. So in this case you can put the |province = AM-ER in there. Saves space and loading time on big pages. Is "objectno " unique? You can also include a field commonscat for monuments that have their own category on Commons and monument_article for the name of the article about the monument (if available). I used English names, but you should of course move the template to a name in Armenian and rename the parameters to be in Armenian.
Maarten
Ps. I guess you found https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-2:AM
Thank for the quick reply, Maarten. Yes I used the ISO 3166-code for provinces. I think moving repeating data to header is good idea. Thanks a lot.
