One using "é" -- which I think caused the failure.
No way. It's perfectly valid. I just tried and uploaded
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ééé.jpg as expected, without issues.
I also tried with "[[É]].jpg" (the brackets are illegal in the names)
and I get a warning saying that the name has been changed to "--É--.jpg"
with three buttons, and them indeed fail.
It proceeds had you originally chosen 'Ignore any warning', though.
