a doubt:
is Instagram compatible with Creative Commons?
Can I upload *my* Instagram pics on Commons (so could it be used for WLM)?
Please consider that I'm not suggesting Instagram pics are good for WLM
(they are filtered and all, probably not very suitable for illustrating
monuments on Wikipedia)
but is a legal matter.

Hi all,
is there anyone who would be willing to help set up a jury process tool
that can be used in multiple countries? I'm looking for a software tool
that makes juring more easy than going through commons categories. Would be
happy to brainstorm if someone is willing to work it out.

Hi everyone,
because we'd like to monitor stats for all wlm websites globally this
year i've installed the open source Piwik package. There were some
concerns about using Google Analytics because of privacy issues. The
nice thing is: you only need to add a small snippet to your site, i'll
add an account for you and you don't need to install any stuff
yourself.
We're still looking if everything will perform well, so if you want to
add the code to your site please send me an email (hay(a)wikimedia.nl)
containing:
1) The username you would like on the statistics server
2) The website you're using
3) Which CMS you're using (WordPress, Mediawiki, etcetera)

I wondered what the best place was to organize a "Wiki Takes ..." event
so I did a query :-)
Picked out some places :
At the top is:

Than it's all Flanders:

* Brakel: 780 (that's Dutch, but I had to look it up on the map)

questions for continuing work.
1. How could I transform in automatic mode a list from a standard wiki form
to templated? For example

a table where I've templated only first 2 rows but the others have not
yet. Of course whole the list must be templated but doing it by hands is
too dull work.
2. How could I make in automatic mode some more complex transformations in
case if I have a list with more parameters? For example

we have 10 parametres, and only 4 of them are needed for WLM-lists and 3
are missing. So this list also need transformation, and also doing it by
hands is too dull work.
The problem is that hundreds of tables need such transformations. For
example only for Vinnica

have 27 lists of historical monuments, 28 - architect, 30 -

We would like to contact all the users part of WikiProject South Africa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_South_Africa/Participants) to ask them if they would like to get involved in the project, as we can do with some extra hands. In addition to this, we would also like to create the categories that are still outstanding on Commons. Does anyone know someone can I contact that operates a bot that can do this for us? When I saw the subject of this email, I thought this was a discussion
on how to choose a route for a photo walk. Since it wasn't that, I
thought I start one :)
When we made the plans for Wiki Takes Bucharest, we took into account
several criteria:
* the area should be poorly covered on commons
* the walk time should not exceed 15-20 minutes for each hour planned
for the photo walk (i.e. you have 3/4 of the time to take photos)
*a back-up/alternative route should exist, in case the main route is
blocked or you have too many participants.
* all routes should begin and end in the same place (the biggest the
crowd, the better the beer :D)
What else should one consider in preparation of such an event?

I just wanted to give you a short notice: on monday, ManfredK and
Thesurvived99 (from de.wikipedia) attended a meeting with Waltraud Kofler
Engl, chief civil servant in the department for cultural heritage of South
Tyrol. She seemed highly surprised and delighted by our efforts and warmly
welcomed a possible collaboration regarding the contest and the improvement
of the database in the future. Of course, there will be several other
meetings in the next few months.
Thanks to our Austrian friends, who helped us as door-openers, and to
Manfred and Thomas, who handled the meeting in such a successful way.
