Greetings everyone, Our next biweekly LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group call is Tuesday, September 10th at 9am PDT / 12pm EDT / 16:00 UTC / 6pm CEST. We'll be discussing references in Wikidata and will take a closer look at the Cradle tool. The call details are below. Invitation to join the Program Committee for the 2020 LD4 Conference on Linked Data in Libraries--apply by September 6th

We’re seeking volunteers with a wide variety of skills and backgrounds to join the Program Committee to plan the 2020 LD4 Conference: May 13th and 14th, 2020, in College Station, Texas, USA, at the Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center at Texas A&M University. The Linked Data for Production initiative, supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, is hosting this conference to bring together anyone passionate about the adoption of linked data in libraries. Our contemporary venue accommodates up to 200 people, with flexibility for multiple simultaneous activities and proximity to local cultural attractions. What kind of community meeting space would you like to create? How can this community gathering best advance the adoption of linked data in all kinds of libraries? Join the Program Committee and shape an event you are excited to participate in! To serve on the Program Committee, you should plan to attend the conference in College Station, Texas on May 13th and 14th, 2020, and be available for bi-weekly teleconference calls beginning in September. Fill in this short form by September 6th to indicate your interest in joining the Program Committee. Committee members will be selected based on a diversity of skills, interests, and backgrounds and will be notified by September 13th. Announcing an initiative by WMSE and WMF for GLAM communities of practice

Hi all, Starting from July 2019, Wikimedia Sverige and the Wikimedia Foundation's GLAM team work together on an initiative to create a better and more sustainable technical infrastructure for global heritage and content partnerships. This initiative is in its very early stages. We have just given a first presentation about it at Wikimania [1], of which you can watch the video recording [2], read the discussion notes [3], and/or browse the slides with speaker notes [4]. We have now also published information and a landing page about this initiative on meta.wikimedia.org [5], where we warmly welcome your first remarks, questions and feedback on the talk page [6]. Do you have an editing event on Wednesday?

If you have an editing event scheduled during the next 24 to 36 hours, please note this potential problem from yesterday's Tech News: Only a limited number of accounts can be created from one IP address. An IP address can be whitelisted so that it can create as many accounts as needed. This is useful at events where many new persons learn to edit. IP addresses that are whitelisted for this reason will also not show CAPTCHAs when you create accounts. Call for bids to host Wikisource Advance Training 2019

Dear Wikimedians, It gives us great pleasure to inform that the Wikisource Advance Training 2019 program organised by CIS-A2K is going to be held from 11 October & 13 October 2019. Advance Wikisource Training is a residential training program is planned for Indic Wikisource community (including English) members. Last year we focused on Wikipedia and conducted the Wiki Advanced Training at Ranch, India. Also, Earlier Indic Wikisource Community Consultation has been conducted in 2018 at Kolkata. This year CIS-A2K is interested to collaborate with the community in hosting the event.
