Hello, all! :)
I am Vassia / User:Spiritia from the Bulgarian Wikipedia, and some of you
have probably heard of our WMF-funded project with Sofia Zoo
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:PEG/Sofia_Zoo_and_Bulgarian_Wikipedi…>
to place QRcodes and contents from Wikimedia on the information boards of
all exhibited animals.
After Wikimania-London, where I met Roger Bamkin and we spoke about QRpedia
and the possibilities for statistics of its usage, I tried to contact him
recently, but got no response. (Roger, hope you're well!) Anyway, I guess
someone else may also be of help.
My colleagues from the Sofia Zoo are very interested to have some (or any!)
statistics about the performance of our zoo-located QR codes.
There is a particular occasion for this request. There will be a European
zoo conference in March 2015, and they would like to report their
experience with Wikimedia, but back it up with some hard data.
The articles covered with QRpedia codes along this project are listed here:
http://bit.ly/1r3eKwl
Please, anyone who is able and willing to help, contact me and tell me what
other information may be needed to complete the research (or instruct us
how to do it by ourselves?)
Thank you very much in advance!
Vassia / Spiritia
Can you please take me off this list?
Thanks.

Hi all,
A few months ago, the Learning and Evaluation team started a new
communication outlet to reach out to the Wikimedia community: Learning
Quarterly, a newsletter that has recently launched its second issue.
Find it on Meta at:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Evaluation/Newsletter/2014/1/2
Through this means we seek to share the learning about programs and
practices taking place in the movement, including information around new
learning resources, blog posts written by the team, learning patterns, and
recent initiatives in IdeaLab that need community support.
Learning is a key aspect of community and program development[1], and we
strive to socialize this knowledge to the community at large. Help us by
spreading the word! [2]
If you want to find out what were the hot topics from the past quarter,
read further on metrics, or learn what other community members are doing in
different parts of the world, subscribe to the Global Message delivery list
[3] and have it sent to your wiki of preference. You can also read the
latest issue on the Evaluation portal on Meta [4] or subscribe to our
bi-weekly announcements *[5]*.
If you are coordinating a Wikimedia program or project, and would like to
be featured in the newsletter, please leave a comment on the Second issue
Discussion page or email eval(a)wikimedia.org
Cheers!

Dear all,
Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) is the National Development Body for the
museums and galleries sector in Scotland. They are seeking applications for
a Wikimedian in Residence from dedicated individuals with excellent
presentation and digital skills to work with Glasgow Museums for a 4 month
secondment followed by 8 months at the MGS office in Edinburgh. The post
will run for 12 months starting in early January 2015.
The project will support museums and galleries to improve their skills in
creating online content and open data projects from the digital curation of
their collections. This is a unique opportunity to help enrich Wikipedia
and its sister projects and share with the world the expert knowledge from
Scottish museums and galleries and to engage with curators, members of the
public and researchers to encourage contributions to the development of
Wikipedia articles.
MGS works with Scotland’s museums and galleries to create ambitious,
dynamic and sustainable enterprises: connecting people, places and
collections; inspiring, delighting and creating public value.
This post is jointly funded by Wikimedia UK and Museums Galleries Scotland.
Kind regards,
Daria

Hello GLAM friends!
For our second round of Individual Engagement Grant applications in 2014,
we have a great crop of ideas. Wikimedians have dropped by to offer
feedback, support, or expertise to some of the proposals, but some
proposals have not been adequately reviewed by community members. Several
of these proposals involve partnerships with cultural institutions,
including digitization projects, outreach, creation and curation of
learning materials, and more.
Community members with GLAM-outreach experience are uniquely suited to
comment on these ideas. If there is an open proposal that interests you,
that you have concerns about, or that involves an area where you have
experience or expertise, please drop by the proposal page to share your
views. This will help the proposers better hone their strategies, and will
assist the IEG Committee in evaluating some of these fresh new ideas to
improve the Wikimedia projects. Working with an IEG proposal may even
inspire you to serve as a project advisor, or to propose one of your own
for the next cycle! Comments are requested until October 20th.

[Speaking in my capacity as Europeana glamwiki coordinator]
As the NationalMuseet are a Europeana partner organisation, myself and
others can proactively assist to help prepare the content for Wikimedia
Commons using the GWT and help to highlight the value of quality, open,
content from European cultural institutions with promotion via their
channels too. I'll get in touch with you off list :-)
