LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group: Next Wikidata Working Hour August 15th on Creating Publisher Items!

Over the summer and into the early fall the LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group<https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_LD4_Wikidata_Affinity_Gr…> will be offering a series of Wikidata Working Hours<https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_LD4_Wikidata_Affinity_Gr…> to give folks an opportunity to try out various Wikidata-related skills and tools by adding data about diverse children’s books<https://ccbc.education.wisc.edu/literature-resources/ccbc-diversity-statist…> from the Cooperative Children’s Book Center at the University of Wisconsin, Madison to Wikidata. Wikidata Working Hours provide hands-on Wikidata experience in a supportive space. We hope you will join us if you are interested in learning more about Wikidata, love children’s books, or have been looking for a fun Wikidata project to contribute to. The fourth Wikidata Working Hour in the series will cover manually creating publisher items: showing how to create items, add statements to items, add references, and use gadgets. Next LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group Call on Tuesday, August 9th

Hello everyone, We have our next LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group Call on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 16:00 UTC / 6pm CEST (Time zone converter<https://zonestamp.toolforge.org/1660060853>). Pieter Vander Vennet will be introducing us to MapComplete, a thematic OpenStreetMap viewer and editor which uses species, language, and image data from Wikidata. This call may be of interest to community members who have worked either directly with geospatial data or on topics (e.g. community art/buildings) which may be usefully visualised on a map. Announcing Wikistories: a new visual form of content

Hello Friends! The Inuka team [1] and the Wikistories pilot project team [2] are delighted to announce that we have launched the first version of the Wikistories tool, which is now available on the Bahasa Indonesian Wikipedia, as a beta feature. Wikistories is a new tool used to create visual format content that combines images and short text from Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia. Presently, the Wikimedia Indonesia community is running a Wikistories pilot testing campaign that will help the Wikistories team evaluate the outcome of this version, improve the tool and get ready to engage with other Wiki communities that would like to incorporate this content format in their projects. We are so excited about the possibilities of this tool and would like you to learn more about it in this blog post [3] and the Wikistories FAQ page [4] (you can also help with the translation of the page to your language).
