Wikimedia Sverige / the Content Partnerships Hub wants to help to support
important tools that are crucial for Wikimedia content partnerships -
maintain them, and make sure they keep running. To know better which tools
we should prioritize, *this survey asks you: what are your favorite (and
most crucial) tools <https://forms.gle/RDnzCqPxrqqx9P7T8>* to do content
partnerships?
Please take a bit of time to complete this survey. *The outcomes will be
used to choose and prioritize tools that we will work on next year* (if we
can collect enough funding). *We are taking the input in this survey very
seriously*.
*Please also forward this to other Wikimedians, volunteers, and to your
GLAM partners. *
You can also still help translate the survey questions to your language;
see instructions at
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Content_Partnerships_Hub/Software/Tool_prio…
.
Thank you, and wishing happy holidays to all who will celebrate in
the upcoming weeks!

Hi:
Anybody know about the state of this project? Is this project under the WMF
umbrella?
Just asking. Found Cassandra is a very beautiful tool and I want to
understand the Wikimedia plans for it, if any.
Thanks.

Depending on what you're interested in, it might be a sufficiently good
approximation to look at usage by language.
The short case study about BEIC https://doi.org/10.4403/jlis.it-12481
can give some ideas for statistics to track. See also
* https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:BEIC (brief overview)
* https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progetto:GLAM/BEIC/2015-07#Sommario
(analysis in Italian)
If you know the totals for the downloads from Commons, and you get some
idea of the distribution by looking at the usage by language or other
sources, that might be enough. There's always a certain level of
uncertainty, so the exact absolute numbers are rarely that telling. BEIC
for example was interested in the (order of magnitude of the) totals and
it was useful to know the approximate share of traffic/interest from
outside Italy (was it 1, 10 or 99 %?) and how much was due to ongoing
"external" interest.
Note that in the mediacounts you can get additional hints by checking
the share of requests coming from typical visits on Wikipedia (default
thumbnail sizes), visits on Commons or downloads (raw files) and hotlinks.

Dear GLAM enthusiasts,
I am writing to encourage you to showcase your work at RightsCon.
I know that members of this list do incredible work related to
partnerships, cultural heritage, digitizing archives, and more. Your
efforts represent some of the best parts of the internet, and also align
closely with the topical focus of this year's RightsCon such as "Futures,
Fictions and Creativity" & "Content Governance."
The deadline to apply is *January 12, 2023*. RightsCon is a summit that
brings together people from around the world to discuss human rights in the
digital age. It is hosted by AccessNow. The conference will take place
from 5–9 June, 2023. It is a hybrid event, open to online participation as
well as in-person in San José, Costa Rica.
