Hello everyone,
We are looking to join the GLAM Wiki community and would love to set up a page to share some of our archival and eventually curatorial collections. We are looking for information on how to partner with Wiki to get a page setup.
Thank you!

Hi All,

When:23 March 2023, 12pm Eastern (Time zone converter<https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html?iso=20230323T160000&p…>).
Registration: Please fill in the Zoom registration link<https://columbiauniversity.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYqf-CvqzksEtK8Gt3cwHD…> to attend.
The March 2023 Working Hour will feature a presentation by Ross Spencer of Siegfried
Using a custom Wikibase with Siegfried
In 2020 Ross Spencer worked alongside the team at Yale University Library (Dr Kat Thornton, Euan Cochran) and Siegfried Developer Richard Lehane to develop an integration for the popular file format identification tool, and Wikidata. The work has also been expanded with a little careful configuration to enable the integration to work with custom Wikibases as well. In this LD4 Wikibase working hour Ross will describe the Siegfried/Wikidata/Wikibase integration in more detail; engagement between the digital preservation and wikidata community; and the benefits he sees in this work for the discipline. Ross is happy to field all and any questions about the work and is especially happy to receive questions in advance if there is anything specific anyone would like to see covered.
Ross Spencer (He/Him/They) (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5144-9794) is a part-time open source software developer, and full-time digital preservation specialist at Ravensburger AG based in Germany.
About the LD4 Wikibase Working Hour:
The LD4 Wikibase Working Hour<https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_LD4_Wikidata_Affinity_Gr…> seeks to create a space for GLAM professionals experimenting with Wikibase/WBStack implementation, the software that Wikidata is based on, to learn collaboratively and share tips, tools, and resources. For more details, see the project page<https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_LD4_Wikidata_Affinity_Gr…>. Dear GLAM enthusiasts,
We want to learn about the work you've done to advocate for copyright reform.
What: The Foundation is mapping the copyright advocacy work that Wikimedians have conducted since roughly 2016. We are specifically looking for initiatives that have targeted government policies on copyright.
Why: This project will help us learn about our movement’s shared copyright public policy priorities, the common obstacles that communities face, and the campaign materials (as well as other resources) that Wikimedians have created or are creating as part of these advocacy efforts.
If you have been involved in such an initiative, or know someone else who has, please let us know!
Send an email with the subject “Copyright advocacy mapping” to Valentina Vera-Quiroz (vveraquiroz-ctr(a)wikimedia.org) and CC me (fputz(a)wikimedia.org) Let us know the time zone in which you are based. We will schedule a time to talk. More information about the project and what we will do with these insights can be found in this blog post: <https://diff.wikimedia.org/2023/03/02/help-wikimedia-map-your-efforts-to-im…>
Hope to hear from you,
Ziski, on behalf of WMF Global Advocacy
Hi Everyone,
How is underrepresented knowledge on wikimedia projects addressed through
new ways of contributions? Intangible cultural heritage of different tribes
in Africa is one such knowledge facing underrepresentation on wikimedia
projects. As indigenous people migrate to cities; face an aging population
of cultural guardians and a strong tradition of oral storytelling, it is
important to save the voices of knowledge at the brink of extinction.
See how

Hello everyone,
We have our next LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group Call on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 17:00 UTC / 6pm CET (Time zone converter<https://zonestamp.toolforge.org/1676998823>). Jim Hahn and John Mark Ockerbloom for Penn Libraries Linked Data Vision:
This presentation will introduce the University of Pennsylvania Libraries Linked Data Vision (https://guides.library.upenn.edu/linked-data), and describe our experiences developing and implementing it. Our vision document defines a framework for activities and goals around linked data, involving both existing standards and systems as well as new desired functionality that linked data may help us address. We will share successes in carrying out the linked data vision, and also discuss areas where we have not yet made progress. We will also discuss some of our projects with Wikidata tie-ins, including our Digital Scriptorium Wikibase project, our Deep Backfile copyright information project, and other Wikidata enhancement projects. We hope to have ample time for conversation with those interested in or working on bringing new functionality to their libraries with linked data.
The call details are below.
