We could really use some help from the Brazilians with this! The deadlines are quickly approaching and Potuguese is one of our priority languages that needs a lot of help.

Hey chapters! :-)
There are two projects undergoing translation going on right now that I think a lot of you would be really interested in: the personal image hiding filter vote ("image filter referendum") and the mobile readers survey.
------ Image filter referendum ------
As you hopefully all know already, the image filter referendum is a global referendum of Wikimedians focused on the development and usage of an opt-in personal image hiding feature. That basically means that it's a way for people to hide what types of images they personally don't want to see right away -- if an image fits into one of the categories of images they don't want to see, it will be initially hidden from view. If after reading the caption they decide they want to see the image, they can easily do that. If they don't, then they're happy that they didn't have a random penis show up in their face (or something of that nature). This is something that a lot of outreach and GLAM-focused people have been wanting for a while now, and I'm pretty sure we've actually discussed these issues on the list.
The main introduction information/rules, the FAQ, and a number of other pages were published the other day, so we could really use your help in getting them translated. As this will be an important global referendum, we need to make sure that everyone understands the situation and what they're actually voting for.
Our main language priorities by number of visitors are en, ja, es, pt, fr, ru, it, vi, ar, nl, zh, tr, fa, ko, th. So we could use help from Wikimedia España/Argentina/Chile, Wikimedia Portugal, Wikimedia France, Wikimedia RU, Wikimedia Italia, and Wikimedia Nederland.
The deadline is 8 August 2011 and the translation status table is here: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/IFR/T
------ Mobile Readers Survey 2011 ------
I'm sure you guys all remember the Editors Survey from a little while ago. Well, the Global Development Department is running another survey, this time focusing on mobile readers rather than editors. This is another survey that will help us understand a lot more about the people who use mobile services and how our mobile sites can be improved. Mobile web access continues to grow, and it's important that we learn more about the mobile situation in different areas so we can increase our reach and get a few steps closer to our mission.
This translation request is a little different from other requests in that instead of accepting any language, we will only be able to support a small number of languages. (These languages were chosen based on existing mobile page views and strategic priorities.) The languages this survey will be run in are en, ja, es, de, fr, ru, pt, tr, ar, zh. So we could use some help from Wikimedia Argentina/España/Chile, Wikimedia Deutschland, Wikimedia France, Wikimedia RU, Wikimedia Portugal, and Wikimedia Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau.
The deadline for this request is 10 August 2011 and the workspace is on Meta-Wiki: < http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Wikipedia_Mobile_Readers_Survey_2011...
------ That's it ------
Well, that's the end of my spiel. :-) If you have any time, please help with these translation requests. Feel free to poke me or the list with any questions you might have.
Thanks in advance! Casey
