Online harassment and stalking is a serious Federal crime [1], and this episode will have to be reported to the US and Australian law enforcement authorities.

Followup: Chris is fine :-) All is well. He's quite touched at how many people rallied around to help him. Mostly he's a bit embarrassed about just how many people this email went out to, but he's pretty public about his depressive illness in order that others will be less shy.
He wants you to know: "Please tell anyone else who has similar suicidal feelings that life is wonderful and it's worth every painful and wonderful moment."
Also I told him to put 127.0.0.1 en.wikipedia.org in /etc/hosts ;-)
